This is a poor sim city clone with cold as window dressing. The developer captured lightning in a bottle with frostpunk (i have 170 hours in frostpunk) The mechanics, city building, resource contention and more, all worked mechanically and thematically. Then someone in their infinite wisdom decided to take all that magic sauce and throw it out the window. Opting for instead, a boring hexagonal city builder with gold, I mean heatstamps, as the resource dejou.

Where frostpunk inspired a sense of dread and grim determination, frostpunk 2 just bores you to death waiting for heatstamps so you can do a thing, anything.

Presenting new players orders from the queen, they're literally unable to accomplish is counterproductive. I'm sure there's a great game in here but the frustration as a new player, just isn't worth it.

This is a superb gaming with remarkable atmosphere and a creative antagonist, the cold. The music, graphics, game mechanics, and more all blend seamlessly to an engrossing experience. Can’t recommend this game enough, it’s just that good.

This is the Police is little more a thinly veiled choose your own adventure booklet, with a film noir coat of paint. There's a very, very good game somewhere in here but that potential has been shoved aside, in favor of predetermined choices and forcing players to save scum.

Don't want to help the mafia kill innocent bystanders? Cut scene of your toon dying, reload. Inadvertently cross some ridiculous threshold in a gang war that you're given no mechanism to track? Cut scene of your toon dying, reload.

The false impression of a player empowerment when making decisions, has a very malicious way of falling into a failure spiral, forcing multiple reloads and save scumming just to get back to neutral. This is the police quickly reveals itself to play, reload, play, reload, play, reload tedium.
Pass on this game, it's simply not good enough to justify enduring.

The game starts out rather slow and methodical, gently easing the player into some of the game concepts through pop-up hints. After an hour or so of couriering items back'n'forth between the settlement and running some fetch questions, you can venture out of your faction's controlled area.

This is where everything falls off the table, and the game ceases being fun. Chances are the pirates controlling the region are going to wipe the floor with you. So back to the faction controlled areas to grind out quests and trading to purchase better gear and level up. Once the requisite treadmill activilties are complete, back to pirate controlled areas, where you can then proceed to play a game of whack'a'mole with infinite spawning pirates at unbalanced spawn rates.

If sixty to eighty hours of grinding to reach the fun is up your alley, then this title is for you. You'll be challenged relentlessly, without mercy or thought. If you're interested in a more casual experience then the title is something you should pass over.

This game’s core mechanics and play are simply grind based with a colorful pallet of topical islands and ocean thinly layered on top.

On my very first ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ play through, on level 3, my dude gets fear and just runs while baddies are pounding him. No introduction to the fear mechanic, no warning, nothing. Got bite by space dog and now my PC just runs while getting his ass eaten up. I ended up getting pinned between 2 other baddies and perma died.

If the game is going to take away the players ability to play the game, or interact with the environment, forworn the player. And don't just half-asssed blindly introduce something like that so early in the game. At least let the player get their legs underneath them.

This game is strictly amateur hour, steer clear.
