There's a lot to unpack here, so lets do a good ol' Pro/Con list!
Pros:
  • The game looks pretty nice. I like the designs for the gravcycles mostly.
  • You can make a custom emblem for yourself. Everything else customisable-wise is all preset stuff, so take it where yiu can.
Cons:
  • The gravcycles aren't that fun to use. They're slow, they have floaty controls and physics, and they just don't really feel as badass as they look. I was expecting these things to be zippy and responsive, but they aint that.
  • Weapons are either weak as hell, or everything else is tanky as ♥♥♥♥. Seriously, no matter what weapon I use, the damage they output always feels depressingly low and super unsatisfying. On top of that, it's unclear how some of the weapons even work, especially the alternate weapons for some gravcycles.
  • The RTS units just feel like an unnecessary element that was thrown in to add a 'unique' factor into the game. I never feel compelled to order my units to do anything, I always forget that they have abilities because they don't help much, and I don't even notice when they die half the time because all they do when they die is just scream 'AAA' for half a second over the radio and then a skull appears over their icon with no indicator as to where they died.
  • Maps feel cramped and messy. Lots of narrow corridors with not a lot of room to move. Maybe that's why the gravcycles are so slow...

I know this is a beta, so there's a chance that some of this stuff will be fixed/improved, but I don't have high hopes for it. If this was more focused on fast-paced gravcycle combat then I think it'd do better.

Also I got softlocked in the tutorial when my unit decided to sprint off an edge and fall into the endless void without dying, meaning I couldn't order him to do the specific thing I needed him to do to progress. Definitely a beta issue that'll get fixed, I just thought it was funny.
