This is a very fun and cute game. It's so good that I feel compelled to put out a review for the first time ever.

Characters are cute (Amber best girl, witch hat supremacy) and the customization potential is pretty high between all the cards and items. Some builds are encouraged for certain characters with the growth rates but you can really do whatever you'd like. Wanna make your archer a motionless sniper that can pick off those annoying bolting mages from halfway across the map? Sure, go ahead. Want your archer to be an immovable reflect tank that kills anyone that tries to hit her? Hell yeah. Anyone can equip any card and anyone can equip any item. Experimentation is highly encouraged, and fun!

The writing is funny. It had me giggling and laughing a lot. Props to whoever the writer is, I loved every second. There isn't much in the way of story though it is solid and has a nice little twist. The character interactions are where it really shines.

Difficulty is probably the hardest thing to get right in an SRPG. Even big games like Fire Emblem get it wrong sometimes. I was initially worried that hardcore would be an unbalanced and frustrating mess, especially since it tacked on permadeath in a game where it isn't the norm, but I was pleasantly surprised as it's quite well balanced for the most part. That isn't to say it's perfect, I think it's a little on the easy side and I didn't have much trouble outside of the Empire of Ashguard. That was the only part of the game that I would say is pretty difficult and I had quite a few resets in the final two maps of that area, but aside from that most of my deaths came from Amber accidentally setting my tank on fire and eating a bunch of reflected damage. By the time you hit endgame, you're so geared up that your plans are less strategic and more "Go here and blow these pillows the ♥♥♥♥ up". It's still great and I prefer it this way than if it were tediously difficult but I wouldn't have minded if it was a little bit more difficult.

Map design is also great. Rout the enemy does make up a majority of the map objectives but there is enough variety to keep things exciting and the timed chests are a great incentive to not turtle and play with some urgency. There's also a good variety of enemies. Each area has their own unique types of pillows and the bosses are well designed and not just HP sponges. I do appreciate that the AI is not entirely stupid as well. The pillows aren't the smartest things in the dream world but you will be punished for positioning badly.

The soundtrack is very nice as well. Each world has a different overworld and battle theme. Dew meadows has my favorite tracks, personally.

That's all of my thoughts on this game, I think. Very good and fun. It was clearly made with a lot of love and care and I was thoroughly entertained for the 30~ hours it took to beat. If you're a fan of SRPGs I highly recommend this. I'll definitely be on the lookout for any new game (or even DLC for this!) by these devs in the future.
