This game is amazing to the point where there are only a few nit picks I can think of that could possibly be negative about it.

The game has tones of cool unique and interesting bosses and boss fights requiring different strategies and preparation each time, tones of different weapons and 4 weapon class trees to specialise into, or you could make gear for multiple classes and swap out mid battle for even more optimised lodouts. The games combat is very engaging and difficulty never feels too unfair.

now for some of the nit picks:

1) voodoo doll demons are annoyingly rare for farming the WoF early hard mode

2) ultra rare drops in general are quite frustrating not necessarily because setting up a farm for them is too difficult, more so that additionally waiting ages for the item to drop can be quite frustrating even with a farm. Maybe making some way to craft these items while still maintaining the original difficulty to acquire would be nice but I am not sure how to do that.

3) fishing achievements take way longer than all the other achievements even with quest fish brought in from a different world.

4) The celestial pillars encounter makes the moon lord very annoying to grind for rare drops even with the craft able summoning item you can sometimes make after a celestial pillars event, this is because the encounter is a fixed time that takes way longer than the actual moon lord fight and can't be significantly sped up. A solution to this would be to make it so the first time you beat the cultist the pillars spawn as usual and after you beat the pillars the moon lord spawns but if you beat/die to the moon lord you no longer have to go through the pillars to activate the moon lord fight. Instead the moon lord fight activates after beating the cultist each time and the pillars event would be activated additional times from crafting a summoning item for the event costing material from the moon lord being defeated.

5) Even with the clentaminator or how ever you spell it purifying world corruption takes so long because you have to make regular hellavators for each patch of corruption, it isn't even like its necessarily too difficult to purify your world its just in endgame it becomes so tedious and long to do even if you quarantined your world efficiently that it is quite frustrating. Having some kind of post moon lord purification item that can purify all the way downward or just straight up purifies your world would be nice seen as after you beat the game it's not like world corruption is even a practical problem outside of cosmetic or sentimental value so you might as well give an op purification option especially seen as you give an op post moon lord weapon (the zeniath), heck you could even make it like the zeniath in the fact you have to do a big crafting tree to make it.

Apart from those complaints I have no other problems with the game to my memory, for sure it's an incredibly enjoyable experience and I would recommend it in a heart beat especially as it's so cheap

This is an amazing game with stellar boss fights especially later on, this is by far one of the most entertaining games i have ever played. Every boss is fair (except for spear of the church but we will get to that) and the skill curve was really well designed. all the side content, bosses, quest and secrets made the game feel lived in and gave a nice sense of exploration and satisfaction for completing everything and seeing your collection of bonfires and souls to spend on cool unique weapons.

The souls give a great incentive for beating endgame side bosses on NG + and onwards which is great and completing everything a second and third time is never redundant due to this and the extra rings you can get in NG + and NG ++.

There is so many approaches to finish the game and so many unique yet still completely viable approaches too, which is definitely a plus as it can allow you to spice up NG + by switching up your play style and weapons and makes starting NG saves after beating the game extremely entertaining as simply changing your build and weapons can make the experience very re-playable.

The DLC bosses are really just the cherry on top every dlc boss (*cough* except spears of the church but we are getting to thaaaat) is extremely fun to fight and well designed, my personal favourite was dark eater midir the boss's patterns are extremely fun and exhilarating to deal with and the sound design is f*cking amazing. the visuals are also just top notch in the dlcs

speaking of sound track the ost for basically everything in this game is just 10/10

the story and world building is genuinely interesting and cleaver (and also really depressing) and i never felt bored finding out about the world.

but there are some negatives in this game although not many I can't in good conscience not mention them:

1) there is a hack that invades can use to soft lock your entire save file for one character meaning you have to back up your saves constantly to prevent your character from being lost, I would heavily recommend you do this by going to C:\Users\[specific user you are loged in as]\AppData\Roaming\DarkSoulsIII, then copy the yellow folder which has the name of a bunch of numbers, paste this thing into a convenient folder and name it something informative about your progress at the time, if the hack happens to you bring the copy you need that you made and replace the folder in the actual darksouls3 location in your pc we mentioned earlier with all the numbers with the copy of your save file, you should rename it back to the numbers name that the actual file had and the game should be closed for saftey reasons. after all that you should be good.

2) spears of the church is the most stupid covenant in existence, there is no reason to use the covenant outside of getting more buffs to use in the covenant boss fight meaning the only people who get summoned into the boss fight are heavily prepared pvp players with pure pvp builds, this means the only way you have a chance in hell to beat them is to make sure you kill the painted guardian before the invader gets summoned which will be difficult if you are doing this at low soul level and even then most new players that reach this point will have to either resort to summoning as much as they can or just brute force it until they get lucky, this makes the rest of the dlc alot less accessible which is a shame because its one of the best parts of the game

3) covenant rewards are extremely redundant out side of getting them for achievements and it takes far too long to get them seen as their only value is these achievements, quite frankly the wolf ring having a +1 and +2 version makes the watch dogs of faron completely redundant outside of the achievement.

despite these issues this games positives FAR out weighs these small ropy parts of the game and i would HEAVILY recommend this game to whom ever wants a fun and entertaining challenge, props to fromsoft for delivering a wonderful experience

I have around 2k hours on psn (Soup_robot0). I can say for sure, at its best this game can be brilliant, in fact the quality of the game is planned to improve vastly from what it was at the start of sk to bl. Just next season alot of these improvements will be implement but i cant recommend this game in good faith in its current state without any proof that these improvements will be implemented well or at all.

So for the time being i will not be recommending this game, in its current state it is a complete mess and has terrible new player support.

However it has the potential to be a good game and i will certainly change my review if the promised improvements are done as well as people hope they will be, but due to previous continued failings on the implementation of various things i can no longer trust the devs with any certainty.

EDIT: Ok so far I am pleased with the quality of the past 2 seasons, in fact I would recommend the game if it weren't for the new player experience being atrocious at the time of writing this. Master vog is very well implemented although seasonal levels are a bore to grind for I dont think this is enough of an issue to make me dislike it, another issue with master vog is there is no reason to play past challenge completions which can make full clears redundant but again this isn't a major issue so I still think master vog overall was implemented well enough. As for the changes to solstice i greatly appreciate them I think that the new requirements are less grindy hell and more engaging. The in game story telling of chosen a and splicer have been top teir and honestly the story and its presentation have never been better than it is now.

some issues remain though, pvp is still a worthless joke with 0 respectable flexes and 0 useful weapons outside of pvp itself (thank god though because its ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ boring). The pvp sandbox is still heavily weighted around a few things and is still boring as ♥♥♥♥ to play (mmmyes hard CC and camping being the endgame pvp meta in a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mobility shooter very fun and engaging gameplay). Old content is still next to useless without some sort of weekly reward system and are also riddled with bugs that have started to accumulate over the years, no AOT armour for master vog is a massive disappointment personally but objectively this isnt that bad of a problem. Some seasonal triumphs are a bit iffy in their requirments but thats to be expected.

and worst of all the new player experiences is still : oh yeah half the game is gone but we wont tell you what actually happened xddddddddddddddddddddddddd good luck.

but if you think that you can play the game along side listening to like way to many destiny lore videos on youtube to understand what the ♥♥♥♥ is going on I would unironically recommend the game to you although I dont think i should recommend the game as a whole because of this issue.

edit2: ok so first off post game is 1% less brain dead because you no longer need +10 pinnacle +15 artifact, instead you now only need +10 +5 or vice versa but pretty much every other thing that was going to be fixed has not been done in a meaninfull way and now theres like 2x more issues (yay) so that's funny and my review is already rambly enough so the long and short of this update is that solar warlock now is worse than arcstrider (some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ how). The new major content update absolutely particle annihilated any semblance of investment in the greater story by comically retconning and dumbing down the threat of savathuun (and the season before with quira) basically ruining the 7 years of build up to the end of this long ass arc that everyone has been hyped about for that time. for reference forsaken was the main setup for this arc and its infinity more content full and substantive let alone considering the actual writting. The most blatant contradictory retcon is quira dying but the curse not breaking despite the fact we explicitly know the curse is linked to quira being alive, its literally the cliff hanger of forsaken: we know who we need to kill to fix the curse but we don't know how to find it. This retroactively makes pretty much all of forsakens narrative worthless (good job bungalo) and single handedly ruined the greatest story telling of the franchise. on the WQ in particular savathuun becomes the dumbest main antagonist out of all of them by making some of the most tactically bankrupt decisions possible just for the sake of this dumbass fanfiction derailed plotline that the new writters want to push over the original planned narrative. This is at odds with forsakens potrayl of savathuun as the biggest mind♥♥♥♥ery of all antagonists just for savathuuns true plan to be that she wants to kill herself on purpose, make herself 1000% weaker and devote herself to the traveler?????????? what was meant by this, this is a ♥♥♥♥ plan that savathun should know better about seen as she ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ knows weilding both paracausal forces is not only the only way to beat the winnower but also just straight up better, but she goes all purist mode for like no reason despite this being an ideal that is portrayed as ignorant in the same ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ narrative. did we forget she is the goddess of trickery and smartness??? why does she just do bad decisions that corner herself for like no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ reason? So this entire plot line that has been hyped up for 7 years gets speedran in like 2 jokes of boss fights, the quira fight where quira uses no oryx powers despite cannonically knowing literally all of them and has the health pool of a thrall and the savathuun fight where she is reskinned ghaul UNIRONICALLY. Great, yippie, I am so happy about this information. And this botchery is all in service to usher in some random super duper fan fic ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ new plot line with 0 pre setup or world building of these super secret right hand men of the winnower who have existed all along and have caused all of the events ever but they are never mentioned previously because all the people who would have known about it just forgor or somthing xd lol lmao.... WHAAAAAAAAAAAT? ok buddy and now we ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ kill one of these literal gods because it basically lets us kill it then rambles in the lore tabs about how we are actually doing its bidding by killing it (wow I love antagonists who say "xd I win because I died" just like palpatine!1 1 ! !) this basically takes away the whole victory because it basically killed itself wow great amazing. Not to mention for an important story raid bungie is still cheaping out and making it 4 encounter instead of the standard of 5+ encounter for a major expansion. for some backround the old standard for a major expansion is to have there be 4 encounter raids only for mini dlcs like crotas end and wrath and for actual high budget dlc there would be raids with 5 encounters or more, but bungie is using the forsaken 2 bonus raids as an excuse to sell full expansions with a raid lair instead of a proper raid. This is even more insulting when this enemey is supposedly a step above the antagonist we just spent the past 7 years soying over (who died comically anticlimactically) and it gets a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ raid lair where it kills itself and the other 3 encounters are loreless fluff with repeated mechanics and flawed setup but we will get to that. furthermore, this expansion expands the very amazing tradition of post SK bungie forgetting that 50% of the game should be mid game content and then they add filler to replace the lack of actual side missions and side stories that the original source material used to have as standard also STILL NO ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ACHIEVMENTS WHYYYYYY. This entire expansion is just a continuation of the degredation of the core mechanics and standards of the franchise into a cheap and ever degenerating state of disrepair, I would unironically rather play pre shadowkeep with no additonal content than 4 year smg meta wild ride hell that is current destiny [continued in withc queen review because no space

This games vanilla gameplay is not in a great state but has significantly improved due to bots being way less common due to their efforts to fix them.

This games community created content and servers are what keep me playing (there is like an near infinite amount of new content being created to this day), definitely one of the best games in that regard but if you want to play a game for its vanilla gameplay it may not be the game for you due to the occasional unplayable lobby because of bots, though there are some vanilla community servers that do not have the boting issue.

servers i recommend are redsun.tf for custom gamemodes/content all in the same server on a rotation, uncletopia for vanilla. blackwonder.tf custom gamemodes server specific. disc-ff more custom content. Jump academy for movement tech practice. Parkour fortress for a unique parkour based gamemode with some custom movement. Moonlight and potato.tf for custom mvm content.

servers I do not recommend (avoid these): skial (♥♥♥♥♥♥ adverts spam and corrupt staff, wonderland (steals plugins and overall ♥♥♥♥♥♥ servers), "achievment" servers, "give free items" servers (they are scams lol), ALTFS. saigns.de. titan.tf (REALLY BAD plugin popups every 3 plank constant seconds and literally everything bad imaginable and features locked to premium). necgaming.
