The fact that this game has prevailed, just as democracy has, shows to the world that there are many ways to handle a live service game, but it is only through the way Arrowhead has done so, will the game last.

These 4 months in Helldivers 2 has been a rollercoaster ride; the infamous railgun nerf, the bugs (both in-game and game bugs) and now the whole account linking thing.

The CEO has been transparent, the devs have fought hard as well. Helldivers 2 is a shining, glorious example of what Live Service Games should be and what future Live Service Games should take measure of.

If you're reading this to decide whether you want to buy this game or not? Do not worry, you're in for one...hell...of a ride of fun and memories, especially if you play with friends. The only commitment you will need is your time. For nothing is held behind an unrealistic paywall and everything is attainable.

For Democracy, For Sweet Liberty, For Super-Earth.

Early Access Review
I'm going to start off right the bat. This game has *tremendous* potential but I do not recommend it at its current state. Please note the date of this review and this applies to it's current state; Alpha 54.

Most of the positive people here will say that "Oh this game is perfect for hardcore survivalists blah blah blah" "Don't listen to the haters/ragers/plebs blah blah blah". These "hardcore survivalists" or whatever they call themselves clearly believes that:

1. Bears, while not territorial, certainly are so abundant to the point where i walk 10 seconds in any direction and I'll surely bump into one.
2. they will gang up with AI Hunters/Wolves to destroy/kill you.
3. you can only get fiber from very specific shrubs when there are trees/bushes everywhere.

While this is supposed to be like realistic survival etc etc, it is still, ultimately, a game. Games have to be enjoyable. I understand that this point might sound unfair, but that's what game balance is about.

I absolutely believe in giving people chances and I believe that the developer is trying to get the game up into playable form, hence, balance is not something he is that worried about at the moment. And it's perfectly fine. I think he has bigger priorities for now and I'm very sure that this game will be able to reach its full potential as long as the author keeps updating the game and listening to feedback.

But no, this game needs work in game balance first, new features a distant second and even further, graphics. The game looks gorgeous that's for sure, otherwise marred by unpleasant gameplay.

I will try this game again when it has developed further.

Let me get this right out for everyone of you. The game is NOT bugged as compared to what a lot of people said. Hear me out.

The game has a very different Supply/Demand system compared to games like Transport Tycoon. And while admittedly it took all my gameplay time so far to find out how to do it, the game now plays properly for me. I'll make a simple example of it: (Scroll down for a TL:DR if you're lazy)

In Transport Tycoon, the steel mill only requires Iron Ore. Naturally, if there's no Iron Ore send to it, it won't produce steel. Simply ensure that theres Iron Ore sent to it and it will continuously spit out Steel. EVEN IF YOU AREN'T SENDING THE STEEL ANYWHERE. (THIS IS IMPORTANT. I'll explain why later)

In Transport Fever, the Steel Mill requires Iron Ore and Coal and produces Steel and Slag. Now naturally you provide Iron Ore and Coal from whatever sources to the Steel Mill. It will work for a while but that's where the "bug" that many have reported comes in. If the Industry realizes that you aren't going to provide a way to send out the Steel (and slag) that it produces, it simply stops producing anything and stop accepting Iron Ore/Coal. (This are where players say that Industries grind to a sudden halt) You need to ship the Steel and Slag to a place that will accept it (Steel -> Tools for example and Slag -> Construction Material) and in turn, you need to find a city to send these to (Building Material for a City's Industrial, Tools for a City's Commercial).

For those looking for a TL:DR

Iron Ore + Coal = Steel + Slag
Steel needs to be made into Tools/Goods
Slag needs to be made into Construction Material
Tools/Goods need to be send to Cities (Commercial)
Construction Material needs to be sent to Cities (Industrial)

If ANY part of this chain stops, everything else is affected and stops as well (as it does in real life). If Demand Outstrips Supply, the related industries will upgrade to try and keep up with your demand. Your job is to optimize all the routes to ensure that you don't leave too much cargo at the place waiting while ensuring you do not incurr to much cost to transport them.

This is no part the fault of the players however. I strongly recommend that Urban Games come up with a proper tutorial to explain how the entire supply/demand system works. I'm now trying to find out how Passengers work properly so I might or might not update to find out how it's works.

TL:DR 2 The game is fun, great music (allows me to reminisce of TT Days, I have to find a way to change the music as well to include TTD music) and its great to see a modern version of a Tycoon game.
