why the hell should i practice my defense when i could just roll the 50/50 machine and kill them fast before they do the same to me?

tactical gameplay mixed with horror that makes your stomach churn? hell yeah.
i first picked this game up back before 1.0 released and the ai was sniping you across the map, but now they're actually fun to fight now. every death doesn't feel cheap because you got sniped, it's simply because of your mistakes.

presentation wise though this game is dark, literally and with the themes. there's something about realistic horror that's harder to stomach because you know that they happen irl, and this game doesn't shy away from showing you (only if you really wanna look for it though) which means you can completely play this straight as a swat 4 successor with improved gunplay or you can take your time to appreciate (and be horrified) by the themes and missions this game presents.

also play with friends, def better that way ♥

when i'm riding around nc with my choom in his preem ride but then i really wanna stay at your house starts playing on the radio so this gonk looks at me and says "i miss her so much bro" and starts speeding up (i'm totally going to be flatlined)

dipped my toe in darktide before but wasn't really hooked but trying this out made me want to know the 40k universe more
it's brutal and fun, a little on the difficult side if you play on the intended difficulty but it feels good to triumph over the challenges. it's also being regularly updated so there's a lot of stuff you can come back to if you finish the singleplayer.

i know nothing about the 40k universe, having only dabbled in it via space marine 2 and darktide
and as much as i like the idea of crpgs, i've never beaten baldur's gate 3 or any other titles
except this one.
from the get go i was hooked by the lore building, something about 40k's world made me feel like i wanted to explore more and experience this grimdark world. and wouldn't you have it, this is my first finished crpg.

it also helps that the gameplay is fun, with so many skills that you can create your perfect rogue trader alongside being having the perfect retinue. some parts of the game might come off as frustrating, so you can download the toybox mod to alliviate them.

i'd say it's worth sinking your time into if you're a fan of crpgs and 40k!

>install the japanese weeb pack for ♥♥♥♥♥ and giggles
>base game usually makes hostage saves one word or so (custom dictionaries ignore this)
>try to save civilians while typing "Ore wa ochinchin ga daisuki nandayo?"

it was pleasant to try the demo and playing through the whole game was fun!
although your experience might vary because i've seen that trying to build melee feels awful, and combat can be jank, which is why i specced into a witch build and just melted everything from a distance.
reminded me of eternal darkness ngl

can't wait for the next one!

it isn't the first two games and that's okay!
at least it isn't the fourth 💀💀💀

the pc port isn't all that polished so you may have to tinker a little for it to make it look smooth because it's capped at 30fps

and the camera shake might get some ppl nauseous but other than that it's a solid dead rising title that tries to innovate from what the previous ones did and succeeds (in some ways) but also falls flat in other ways.

while this game still does retain the silliness and the combo weapons especially up the ante from previous weapons, the charm from exploring a mall and doing dumb stuff is gone, it's been replaced with hack n slash combat that allows you to do finishers, not unlike the first two where every weapon (kind of) has a unique attack attached to them.

overall if you like the series it's still some good ol dead rising, just uniquely different!
