While it is still deeply disappointing that TW have taken a broad turn towards fantasy garbage rather than purely historical settings, this is the first implementation of that style that I actually found reasonably compelling. Barter mechanics and multi resource economy are a big improvement; diplomacy is solid and well-done; it doesn't try to be too much of an RPG, and balances the narrative elements with the strategy quite well. AI is good. The game is also pretty well informed, historically and mythologically, which is pleasing.

Now, if only they could stop working with Sweaty Incel WarGarbage fantasy, and come back to historical settings for a bit...
