I love this game!

And it is for that very reason that I'm forced to write this negative review.

As of writing, this game suffers from balance issues, glitches, crashes, buggy and clearly unintended interactions, and worst of all, cheaters and pluggers who see no consequences for their behavior.

Instead of fixing these issues, Namco has instead opted to push their new microtransaction shop and go as far as going after modders and content creators in order to squash any competition to it.

Namco, I want to love your game, and I want to give you more of my time and money for creating the content I enjoy, but I can't in good conscience do those when your priorities are so clearly not in your customers best interests.

Please, fix your damn game before you keep shoving MTX down our throats.

Sincerely, a Tekken fan.

I'm not really sure what I could say about this game to explain how enjoyable it was without spoiling the game.
It's an experience you can only have once, and it was very enjoyable.

Give it a go sometime.

I was willing to give this game a 'hesitant recommendation' (Game has a lot of issues. Very few players, extremely predatory cash shop, the free animals being extremely mid compared to paid ones, etc) but the recent changes were a tipping point for me.
They doubled the amount of 'bombs' you need to earn in order to level up the battle pass, AND they changed the log in bonus to give less boxes (Which give you a less than 2% chance to get a new RANDOM animal)

This game already has a incredibly low user base. All these changes do is chase away even more lol.

A fun and believable world that was a pleasure to run through. The music, while nothing to write home about, was atmospheric and pleasant. The little details and interactable environment were also very nice touches.

Also cat.

The downsides? There's little replay-ability (Besides achievement hunting), and It's kind of expensive for it's length. I completed the game in about 6 to 6 and a half hours, and that was while doing my best to try and find as many secrets as possible.

Still, if you're willing to pay a little extra, it's a fun and unique experience that I feel was worth having.

Best played with people you know, or at least are acquainted with. With the right people it's both hilarious and suspenseful.

TL;DR version: Overall good game, I'd give it a solid 7 outta 10. Some quirks I didn't like, hope they fix it in the sequel, ending blue balled me hard.

Slightly more in depth version for nerds:

Pros:
Fast pace
Great spritework, it actually gives me a very 'metal slug' vibe in it's style.
Decent replay value if your the speedrun/achievement hunting type
Story had me playing marathon sessions cause I was getting super into it

Cons:
Randomized 'Seed's' on enemy movement/AI between each death
Ending brings out a bunch of strong and very interesting twists.. then cliffhanger. I was actually kinda mad at that.
Very short, can be completed in about 4 hours depending on your skill level.

Things I think must absolutely be fixed in the sequel: Do NOT randomize the enemies AI/movement patterns between each death. They should always do the exact same thing they did before you died. This lead to a few frustrating moments where a strategy I came up with for a group of enemies would sometimes fail because the AI shot at me faster then last time, or moved in another direction.

Separate the roll and 'drop between levels' buttons. It's frustrating to roll in the heat of a firefight.. only to roll down a floor and get shot for it.

Still a fun time from beginning to end though, hope you make the sequel even better!

I give this game a recommendation with a caveat.
If you're out for a competitive experience- don't bother. The game has severe balance issues (especially in the map department), no team balancing features, and even lacks a lot of QOL features present in every modern competitive game since the mid 2000's like spawn protection.

However, If you're down for some laughs, some meme's and just generally faffing about while people shout at each other about Donald Trump in the chat all the while mashing your V button and swinging a frying pan wildly into a crowd; then this game comes with my recommendation.

Request to dev's if you guys read this: Bake the 'friendly' perk into the games mechanics. Having to use a point just to not accidentally murder my teammates in a melee is asinine; and there's always that guy who can't be bothered to take it and will kill all his teammates. XD
