For such a niche game, you would think that the developers would be amenable to allowing AI teammates in multiplayer. Playing with random teammates more often than not results in being shot in the back at the beginning of the mission. It's baffling because there are mods that add AI teammates, so it's certainly not a matter of whether they could implement it. Unfortunately, said mods are broken every time a DLC or update is pushed, so I can't even say the game is mod-friendly. I wouldn't recommend buying this game unless you have at least two or three friends that you can play this tactical shooter game with reliably unless you are okay with purchasing what is effectively a single-player game.

valve taking cues from blizzard in how to ♥♥♥♥ up a perfectly fine game by replacing it with some new ♥♥♥♥ that strongarms you into some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ without your consent. Who thought this was a good idea?

That being said, I reccomend watching the anime if you haven't already seen it before buying. Once you watch it, you'll know if you need this or not. And if you still have a beating heart, you will.
