Genuinely the most fun I've had exploring a cozy farming type game ever. It is different from Stardew Valley, but has enough in common to be intuitive and easily understood what will do what. I've barely scratched the surface of the game and I already love it.

Game definitely isn't as polished as Idling to Rule the Gods, but is much newer, so has room to grow. I believe as it will be fleshed out more, it will be equally as good, immersive, and addicting. The earlygame after retiring seems a little harder than the earlygame should be, since retiring at the recommended time leaves you short on money to research recipes, but once you have the first restaurant and enough a base to instantly win, it picks up steam.

So it's basically a blatant Civilization clone, circa Civilization 4. Not in a bad way though; I actually really enjoy it! Still, it doesn't have campaigns, so the only plot is randomly generated. My main gripe is that it's both way too easy yet also way too hard. You can "win" the game rather easily, but exploring all the mechanics of the game like the portals is too hard to actually pull off before the end of a game.

Personally I'm not skilled enough to really master the game but I enjoy it all the same. The mutation survival mechanics are pretty good, managing your little family is a challenging task. My only complaint is that for a hyper-casual gamer like me, it's TOO challenging a task. Still, if you're up for that level of challenge, the game's excellent!

Probably the closest Majesty game to the original in terms of vibe, but obviously very different by way of being a tower defense game rather than a merge of Sim and RTS. The mechanics are really good for the genre, actually, and the game is surprisingly fun. Some levels are very hard, and the game is very story-driven, but it at least feels like it has the same level of fun as the original did.

One of the most iconic games of all time, and for good reason. I recommend experiencing Monica. Just Monica.

Majesty 2 is nothing like the charm and uniqueness of the original.

It doesn't have the same level of depth to the heroes and workers, and plays far more like an RTS than a sim game.

The game is also much harder with none of the ability to cheat or mod the original has, and while a harder experience is something some gamers may enjoy, it's not what I liked about the original game.

The story/lore of the sequel is far more serious and less quirky/fun than the original and the level of entertainment just isn't there. The removal of many mechanics from the original only makes it worse.

To be sure, there's new mechanics introduced that I do like. There's many good ideas to be had within, but I felt whatever potential those ideas had was wasted by the lack of care taken to respect the original game for what it was. The sequel devs just didn't "get" what made the original so special, in my opinion, and the game just isn't the vibes I enjoy.

One of the best games I've ever played. My only regret is that there isn't even larger worlds with even more time to customize and worldbuild the perfect world with all the things I want. It's a remarkably fun, complete game as-is though, and 100%ing it was well worth it. <3
