Throughout the project in which students placed a mirror on a flat surface in an attempt to measure the distance from the mirror to the student and the mirror to the object, numerous validity factors and areas of error were revealed. For example, if the mirror was placed on a surface that was not flat or leveled, such as the grass, the proportion will be incorrect because there is a change in distance from eye level of the individual viewing the mirror. Another validity factor is whether the top of the object was properly aligned to the distance measured in the mirror using a post-it note. If the individuals measured to a part of the post-it that was not on the mirror, the end result will be incorrect.
