STRONG RECOMMENDATION!

I would even say it's better than the original Half life.
I'm not usually one to write reviews, but this game deserves one. If you want to go back and experience what made Half Life great, while also going through additions that Gearbox made to spice things up, get the game. The gameplay on hard is thrilling and nerve-racking at times, something you won't get with most modern shooter titles. Having one health and trying to deafeat invisible black ops assassins is a pain in the ass, but after getting through a hard section, you won't feel dissatisfied.

The setting and story are surprisingly solid. The tutorial levels set the tone through the whole game, a U.S. Marine tasked with killing Gordon Freeman. Things go sour and the protagonist, Adrian Shepard, ends up forgetting his message just to sruvive through the Black Mesa incident. G-Man makes his usual appearances, refering to Shepard as an asset he cannot lose. Levels in the game are varied, you won't get bored going through the game. There are also other Marines Shepard ends up meeting throughout his journey, who assist the protagonist with extra stopping power against the enemies or heal you up when you need it. Granted, the A.I. of these companions isn't the best, but it is good for its time, same can be said about the A.I. of the enemies.

A couple of alien weapons, like the Barnacle gun which acts as a grappling hook or the Spore launcher, which acts as a projectile launcher with ammo that you can only gather from the game environment, are welcome additions to the game.

Overall, Opposing Force is a game worth your time!
