If you like swords, knights, or whacking people with long sticks, Mordhau is the game for you. Mordhau is a great game, truly. You can find hilarity in every death, so even when you're losing it's entertaining, and most of all it has modding support, so anything is possible. One time I played on an Elden Ring themed map, complete with bosses.

My main advice for new players, first, do the tutorial for the free 2500 gold it gives you, then look at the discussion on the steam page, find the post that says something along the lines of 1v1 duel etiquette, and read it. After that's done, join a dueling server from the server browser (deathmatch) and ask in chat if anyone could help you with the basics. If you cant find anyone to help you, at least it can prepare you for the harsh realities of swing manipulation. After your trial by fire, use the server browser to search for servers to join, it lets you choose servers hosted in your area.
