Absolutely amazing. While I love games such as Skyrim and Just Cause, this game reminds us that humans strive for stories. And stories can only be made great by believable characters and impressive story arcs. Besides the excellent gameplay and beautiful scenery, this game has some incredible hand crafted quests that make every adventure as brilliant as the next. The best part is the subtle impacts these quests can have on the world around you. The impacts are not in your face, and sometimes you have to return to the area to see the effects. This helps me BELIEVE the world and shakes off the traditional 'gamey' touches that many massive rpgs that we're used to.

Get this game.

Early Access Review
Brilliant zombie game. Blends survival, (real survival) action, simulation, RPG mechanics and of course, zombies. While the zombie genre has been over used to death, (just like that pun) this game really brings something fresh. The greatest aspect is the certainty that you WILL DIE. The real question is when.

Graphics
The graphics are pleasing for me, the style mixes really well and nothing ever sticks out of place except bugs in the art and lighting. The developers are costantly working on this though.

Map
The map is set out realisticly and has many locations including lumber yards, farms, wilderness, houses, shops, motels, and more. It is important to mention here that the world is NOT procedurally generated. I think this is good because it makes the world feel far more real and considering how big the developers plan the world to be - it's not going to be a problem.

Gameplay
If you love survival games, this game will be perfect for you. You can play heaps of different ways and even allows for the "run and gun" tactics which will definitly lead to an untimely end. The developers do stress that if you want to survive long term, you must stay down, sneak around zombies and avoid running - for one scratch could mean zombification. You must keep healthy, scavenge supplies, eat, drink, craft, explore, barricade and heaps more. Keep in mind these are slow zombies, and is tailored for a Romero audience. While you can play sandbox mode and set the zombies to sprinters, this is extremley challenging due to all the other factors you have to survive too,

Planned
There are many planned features, including multiplayer, vehicles, an even larger map, hunting and far far more. I suggest you check the forums for planned features.

Gripes
The only major gripes I have with this game in its current state is the occasional graphical glitches which can really take you out of the game. Another gripe is the UI glitches. They have recently given their UI an overhaul, and while the new inventory system is amazing, some of the pop up menu's look glitchy.

Verdict
This game has the potential to be incredible, even in its current state I could sink hours into it (and have), my lack of game time on my profile is due to me backing this game back in 2011 and I have played many hours of the non-steam version. So, if you love survival zombie games and have a solid zombie apocalypse plan that you want to put into action, this is the game for you.
