Sony changed the wording on their website from not needing a PSN account to being mandatory months after release.

Edit: Changing my review back to positive after sony backtracked, it's a pretty great game after all

Doens't support many controllers, lazy port and they have no plans for further fixes. Mind you, from what I know they haven't released a single fix since it was released on steam.

Even though I don't like day one dlc this was a crowdfunder perk so it's more than reasonable. Also, the more money this game makes the more chance heads will roll among Konami suits so that's a plus. Based on that alone it earns a thumbs up

Starting to think this is a social experiment on how many times can you disappoint a community with delays that only deliver bug ridden patches before they stop caring.

It would seem a year and still counting. Can't recommend the game but as an experiment on frustration A+

Let me start by saying if I could chose an option other than recommend or not I would.

Yes, it works almost without hitches(seems a few players are having problems with the latest AMD drivers but other than that) and online also works. However this is what you get:

-You get a pretty short story mode (about 3 hours) which doesn't include all the characters, full of plot holes for that matter and a final boss and special chapter boss that make Shao Khan in Mortal Kombat trilogy for PS1 seem fair compared to them.
-Instead of the normal CGI endings after completing arcade mode, you have a similar mode to SFVs original story mode except only one fight per character and again it doesn't include all characters.
-Arcade (without endings)
-Versus
-Treasure hunt (which essentially is a survival mode with treasures, which are customization items or fight money.)
-Very little customization compared to previous entries, and mostly the same for every single character.(Seriously, I'm only spending fight money on videos from old Tekken games. There's not much else to spend it on since most customization doesn't even suit or fit the characters.)
-Online ranked, non-ranked and tournament matches.
-37 characters(not including eliza since she was pre-order bonus), 8 of which are new AND AREN'T EVEN PART OF STORY MODE EXCEPT FOR 2(Claudio and Akuma). All you get about those other 6 are 2 paragraphs of text and a 10 sec "in fight" (meaning not prerendered) cutscene that doesn't really answer much. WHAT THE ACTUAL ♥♥♥♥? WHY ARE THEY EVEN THERE?

That's all you get. Wtf happen to Tekken force? Bowling? Volleyball? Endings for all characters? Unlockable characters? Where is all the fun stuff that wasn't actually figting online? We don't even get the jukebox that allows you to make a playlist with music from previous tekken because it's a PS4 esxclusive.

However, we have access to the videos of the pachinko machines. Lol

Conclusion: It's a good fighting game & a good pc port but it doesn't hold up to previous entries. If you can live with that, get it, you probably won't regret it. If not, wait till the season pass content comes out and then make your decision. That's my best advice.

Running everything except effects on High. Gamewise it runs smoothly though for some reason if asks more of your PC than it should for a 2d fighting game. Just an example, it makes my GPU and CPU temperature go higher than it does when playing MGSV, Witcher 3 or Overwatch, which buffles my mind.(this might be an error on my end but considering it only happens with this one it seems unlikely)

The game offers a base number of characters and others that can be bought via microtransactions, season pass or currency earned by playing ( in this last case a character costs 100k and you earn 50 per game won so...). Other than that there's,scenarios and recolors you can buy with the currency i last mentioned (also at obscene prices considering how much you earn per match) plus skins you have to buy via microtransactions to unlock even with the season pass (like "hot ryu" which some people seemed to be hyped about, well 4 extra € if you want it).

Story mode seems rushed with awful voice acting and there's no arcade or Plaver Vs CPU other than training, suvival or challenges...I bought it thinking with the addition of other characters and the story mode it'd be worth it only to regret buying it.

It still has potencial but right now with the price it has I can't recommend it unless you're a huge fan and only plan to play online ( be warned it takes about 3-5min at least to find a match). It hurts me to say it because this isn't gonna help the playerbase but I can't in good faith say it's worth the money, stay away for the moment.

All that added to the fact there's no Sagat, no Akuma, no Evil Ryu, no Guile (in the base game) and many other icons fills me with regret for more than happyness.

It's pay2win and I got scammed out of 5 bucks. That's all you need to know. Obviously I did like it but after getting scammed I lost all interest.

It's a waiting game. You click which quest you wanna do, you wait, you get the gold to raise attributes and buy equipment. Rinse and repeat. Guilds have bonuses. Said bonuses have a cap.
You can earn mushrooms (premium currency) by doing quests, thing is in order to upgrade those guild bonuses you need to buy mushrooms since the ones you earn by questing can't be used for anything other than to refill the "thirst"(stamina) feature. In essence this means only guilds with high spenders can aim for top guilds or even upgrade their exp/gold bonus.

The cherry on top is, even if you decided to spend money buying mushrooms to further your guild, you have no guarantee of recieving them. If you don't recieve them you'll have to get in touch with a support system that won't answer. It has been weeks already and no answer so don't let them scam you too.

Edit: Steam ended up doing the refund because the devs a month after the issue still hadn't answered.

Storywise it's not long(around 6-8h at most) ,but let's be honest most MSG you can finish in an afternoon. In this one you can cut a helicopter in 400`+ pieces while in a Gray Fox costume. What more could you ask for??

Any fan of dragon ball will love the game. It goes back to the budokai tenkaichi style of fighting making it more dynamic than in previous game plus the fact you can create your character and appear on the epic battles of DBZ makes it all that much better.
Only cons I see that may be a dealbreaker for some people or a reason to wait for a complete or gold edition are:
-namekians can't turn great namekians.
-Majin and freeza race don't transform.
-You can only go as far as Super Saiyan 2.You can still choose to play as goku super saiyan 3 and goku, vegeta and gogeta super saiyan 4, but the character you create can only transform as far as 2.
-The character rooster is not as big as in previous games.
If you can live with that, it's one of the best Dragon ball games since ps2.
