Hands down the best Star Wars FPS/Action game I have ever played. (Admittedly I never played the prequels)

You play as Kyle Katarn, a Mercenary that works for the New Republic. You start the game by infiltrating a remnant imperial forces base armed with a basic blaster pistol, and as the game progresses you will get your hands on more weapons (like the iconic E11 Rifle, and a variety of other weapons). You and your wife (Jan Ors) are the only two people in the galaxy who know where a certain "Valley of the Jedi" is located, it contains a Force Nexus so powerful, that anyone who enters it will have their force sensitivity massively boosted. (In other words it can artificially create Jedi, or make Jedi who enter it much stronger) and this has been the focal point of the series up till this entry.

The difficulty curve for the first couple of missions isn't exactly forgiving, but after a certain point you start using force powers and a lightsaber which would make everything significantly easier... If you wouldn't have to be facing grenadiers and snipers (which the lightsaber can't block) as soon as you get your hands on the saber. I'd say the real relaxing fun of making minced meat out of stormtroopers doesn't start until after the point where you first start fighting other Jedi in the game, which is about a quarter into the game.

But the difficulty of the game is really just what you select when you start it. Hard is hard, medium is medium and easy is easy.

Sadly, the game's age does show on modern high resolution displays, it was made for the era of 1024x768. You will see some artifacts (like green tinted shadows) and some heavily upscaled textures. But it's still worth it. It's also worth noting that the multiplayer gameplay in these games is quite fun. How many games allow you to switch between third person lightsaber and first person shooting on the fly when you're fighting other players? Not many.

This game looked promising, but it only took it about 2 hours for it to turn into a grindfest for me, once I saw that all I was really doing was grinding reputation, money and waiting for other factions to do something, I just stopped.

I felt that the amount of things you can do in this game are too limited, even if the scale of the effects of the things you actually can do in this game is pretty large.

I'm not gonna say it was a bad game, it just wasn't really good enough.

Wouldn't say it's worth full price of 15$, and it's disappointing that somehow the DLC isn't cross platform while the original game is.

In this game you can customize 3 classes of spaceships (fighters, frigates and cruisers) and change their weapons loadouts, armor thickness and shield strength (all about the tradeoffs). It comes with a few (10-ish) single player campaign missions and 3 races each with it's own set of ship hulls.

The learning curve is there but it's not steep, you can get away with skipping the tutorial. What you do in this game is you customize your ships, and on a budget with restricted amounts of pilots you deploy them into pre-determined battlezones, you customize the AI a little and then watch the battle ensue. You cannot manually control or micromanage ships while the battle is on-going, you must decide it all before the battle.

It's a unique but cool take on real time strategy. In space. You can expect to get anywhere between 3-10 hours from it depending on how fast you catch on to techniques for easy victories, and how much time you spend customizing your ships. For me, as soon as I'd unlocked all the modules and finished all the campaign missions, it was over. There wasn't even any lore to get into. I didn't have any interest in online play either.

Overall it was a decent and fun game, but I found it lacking in content (both mission quantity and amount of things to do for honor points. Once you've unlocked everything, there's no reward for winning battles any longer), not quite worth a 15$, but if you catch it on sale, it's worth at least one playthrough :)

This is a Kinetic Novel, what that means is that it's a visual novel without any choices (in other words pure novel) play time depends on your reading speed, expect about 1 hour out of it. For ratings.

Story and Writing: 9/10 (It's a good slow paced heartwarming story and the English translation was well written)
Character Art: 9/10 (Best I've seen in a 2D game)
Environment Art: 7/10 (Subpar 2D environment art, but on par with indie VNs. However 3D environment art is great)
Ambient & Soundtrack: 7/10 (Nothing special, but good enough to not be a bother)
Voice Acting: 5/10 (The chinese voice actresses did well enough, but they had very low-grade recording equipment)
Overall: 7/10 (The most important parts were all done really well, the biggest flaw here is that the novel was short)

I can recommend it to anyone who likes to read a good story, but if you're expecting multiple endings or some action this isn't the right place. It's well worth it's 5$ price tag, and many might prefer 1 high quality hour over 4 mediocre quality hours of narrative. Despite how short it was, I was satisfied with the ending.

This game reminded me of the time when I still liked shooters. They just don't make 'em like this anymore. You can expect a solid 15 hours of gameplay (give or take up to 5 depending on your playing speed) for your first playthrough, that said the game makes itself replayable by having a choice in the first level which will slightly alter the gameplay and minorly affect possible routes you can go in levels. It's not much, but it's enough to give you an excuse to spend another 15 hours on it when you're bored some months (or years) after your first completion (or if you are just starving for more after you finish the game).

My only problems with the game were performance issues, I have a pretty high end machine but it seems that the game is very poorly optimized, for example it does not support triple buffering (so one of my major performance issues was that my framerate was jumping between 15/30/60 all the time when Vsync was enabled, the solution is to disable Vsync in the game options and to force Vsync with triple buffering on in your graphics drivers. Blame iD Software for this one.) And it also seems to have some caching issues. Load times between deaths can get extremely long as well (up to more than a full minute) but after dying an X amount of times in the same spot (2 or 3 times) it seems the game starts to load it faster. Don't ask me why.

Besides the performance issues, the game was great all around, from the gameplay to the story, and even the characters. I also loved the entire soundtrack. The protagonist was your typical classic FPS type (like you'd expect from Wolfenstein or Doom games) which was kindof a nice kick in the nostalgia. It's an oldschool game making use of the capabilities of modern game development tools. A must play if you are or ever were a fan of shooters.

The Legend of Korra developed by Platinum games and published by Activision. This game is awesome, especially if you don't mind a little bit of difficulty (although if you do, just play on casual) the only shortcoming of this game (besides lack of cross platform support), and the reason for it's surprisingly cheap price tag is that it's a bit short, your first playthrough of it will range anywhere between 2-4 hours. So do take your time with it.

But to make up for it's short play time, it is very replayable, you aren't going to explore all the game's content in just 2-4 hours, for example there is an extreme difficulty setting and a pro-bending minigame that isn't unlocked until after you complete the game once, and there are also fun items that can be played with that you won't be able to afford with just one playthrough, and unlockable costumes. And since the game is just so bloody fun, and challenging to boot, it's not hard to want to play more of it after you finish it once.

Overall I'd say that this is a very top quality buttonmashing game, and if an expansion or game #2 will be made by the same developers, I would buy it on the spot. It's also quite rare to see big publishers like Activision sell games at a more than fair price, so I feel that they deserve my money for this one.

The only problem in terms of content you may run into is the lwo quality of cinematics between levels, their sound volume is inconsistent with the volume of the game, and it seems to be quite low res (720p) with a bad upscaling algorithm in place (naturally as a game engine it's not exactly designed around video playback), and of course since this is a buttonmashing game, a controller is recommended (Preferably an X360 emulating controller)

I recommend it for anyone who is a fan of Japanese buttonmashers like Bayonetta, Okami and Devil May Cry, and also of course for anyone who is a fan of The Legend of Korra tv series. The game's storyline is a sidestory between Season 2 and Season 3 (so you only need to have seen as much of the series as the first two seasons to understand the story)

I lost my soul to this game, it crushed any pride I may once have had and I now feel like I am the most pathetic human being ever to walk upon the Earth.

This game is a masochists wettest dream, and a sadists most powerful torture device. If you're one of these people who always barks out that games aren't challenging enough, this game will change your mind forever, you will never want to play a challenging game again. I regret I was born, but at least I finished it, I died more in this game over 6 hours than I did in Dark Souls for 100 hours. So expect tears of grief and sorrow as the game destroys your soul.

This game is beyond awesome, I almost regret buying it on sale for 1$ because I'd value it at 15$ (same as soundtrack edition costs, which is what you should be buying as the soundtrack in this game rules!) if it was a bit longer, I'd value it a lot higher than that.

I played it on (Arch) Linux, it took me 3 hours to finish, and it ran flawlessly from start to finish, It also supported X360 controller just fine on there. I'd say the game's length is going to be roughly 2 hours if you rush through it, 3 hours if you fool around and enjoy it a bit like I did, and even more if you actually bother looking for the secrets and easter eggs which I very much missed out on in my first playthrough.

The game is highly replayable as there are many ways to solve most of the puzzles, and a lot of secret areas. The game can also be modded and custom levels can be made (although sadly no workshop support for that content) but most important of all, this game is fun.

It was probably the most fun 3 hours i've spent for a number of years, the graphics were (intentionally) really cartoony, and the gameplay was a lot like one of those 3D puzzle games in their early days (I'm thinking Gex: Enter The Gecko) and as a result, I was taken back a good solid 15 years to back when I was a child and playing video games for the first time ever. It brought me a lot of joy.

It is worth noting the game is also child-friendly as the most questionable part of it is a small piece of the world lore narrated through wall paintings late in the game, and basic slapstick/cartoon violence.

This game is like a breath of fresh air, it is funny, it is fun, and it is cool, for a hands down rating:

Story 9/10 (Really original and fairly unpredictable too)

Gameplay 9/10 (It was a 3D Puzzle game with a physics simulation that allows you to create your own paths through puzzles by cutting objects down and moving them around, almost every object in the game could be cut)

Graphics 8/10 (The environment delivered the intended effect, the shortcoming of graphics which dropped it a bit was the character textures and how simple the textures of everything else was, models were also simple but that was a necessity in a low budget indie game like this with the gameplay mechanics. I can say though that one thing I loved about the game is that it has no UI/HUD, all it has is a crosshair to help you aim which is all you really need, it creates a nice immersive feeling not to worry about health bars or ammo or anything, the text messages that followed up with sound effects when objects smashed into each other was also really cool in my opinion.)

Soundtrack 10/10 (Hands down the best soundtrack (system) in any video game ever, it was an intergrated part of the gameplay, you would unlock new music tracks by picking up audio tapes and then you could switch between them whenever you wanted with just the press of a button, there were several music tracks fitting like a glove on each of the environments the game offers and if by any case you didn't like a track, you would just change to the next one! Apart from how the system handled soundtrack, the music itself was awesome and personally for me good enough to listen to outside of the game even, you can use the two trailers as examples, I'm a fairly harsh critique when it comes to music too, so me endorsing a games soundtrack this much is extremely rare, the only other game I can think of I would ever score this high is The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind)

Controls 6/10 (This is the games weakest point, the game is very well playable on a keyboard and mouse, but aiming the laser is sometimes a little bit annoying and unintuitive, especially since it is limited to the field of view of your camera, and playing it with a controller just didn't work very well for me at all, I couldn't aim for ♥♥♥♥ with the controller which was the main issue on there (using the right analogue stick, but maybe it's just cus I suck with analogue sticks, there's also no auto-aim.) but I also noticed it was a lot harder to control my character with the analogue stick than with the keyboard, using the D-Pad works great though!)

Overall: 9/10

This game is a Masterpiece!

This would've been 9.5 out of 10 if the game had been just about twice as long as it was, but like I mentioned, it can be modded and players can share new levels with each other which I imagine would be really cool! if only it was more popular and had a few dedicated modders, this would go a long way.

Really great game, it surprised me a lot how good it was, I did not expect this! And the game ran like a well oiled machine without a hiccup on Linux which is more than can be said for most ports!

I found the detection/stealth system in this game very lackluster, I mean you shoot and everyone in a radius is alarmed that you're around, you shoot again and they will all know where you are, and at this point it's just simply time to bring out the machine guns and go gung ho, not much sniper gameplay in that.

But, apart from this the game is epic, sniping is super fun with simplified mechanics but you can go into hardcore mode where you'll have to account for wind and everything, i'll give it 7/10.

I see people crying and crying over this game... Sure enough, for a Beta state it's pretty Alpha-like (as with most other games...)

It has bugs, serious ones too. Occasionally when a game starts you will have unbearable lag, but that one is hotfixable by moving the Resolution Scaling slider up and then down again (or something like that, just getting it out there...)

The lobby server tends to lag like hell, and sure enough the game can support several thousand units in one game, but if you build ten thousand or more you will most likely start lagging reasonably bad, it will still be playable though, just bad. (Planned to be fixed)

Your game can crash and burn, units have a chance to get stuck on terrain or just bug out, bad things can happen that will interrupt your gameplay experience, but that's ok. It's a beta, and if you've just got the sense of humor to be able to laugh at it and actually enjoy the challenge it might pose (for example, when my ACU got stuck in an orbital transporter that got stuck in a mountain when trying to take off... i just had to defend that spot of course.) then you probably wont mind. In other words if you don't mind playing other early access games, alpha and beta alike, (The game is a bit too incomplete in my opinion to call it a beta, but thats just my opinion) You're going to enjoy this (assuming that you enjoy Supreme Commander and similar strategy games with unlimited resources.)

This is by far the most large scale RTS game i've played, it's an ambitious project and i want to see it succeed, there's a lot of nay-sayers claiming that the devs are going to just take the money and drop the project. I think this is very insulting and harsh, if i was a developer such statements would actually hurt my feelings. Just look for a second at all the hard work that has been put in the game, what's already been created is no small feat, and NOBODY would create something this massive as well as it's already been done only to take the money and run.

If they wanted to take the money and run THEY ALREADY WOULD HAVE. I have no doubt that the devs are working their very hardest to finish this game, but programming always takes twice as long as you expect it to so it's normal that deadlines get delayed. The only reason they don't get delayed is money grabbing publishers that demand the game being released on the deadline, ready or not and don't give two ♥♥♥♥♥ about the actual game.

That being said, the game is very playable in it's current state, a project this massive was likely to have a lot more, a lot worse bugs than it does really, i was surprised at how little bugged it is. The biggest problems i've had are stated right above. Sure it's not feature-complete yet, but it's close to it. It has enough features to directly compete with it's predecessors (that is the Supreme Commander series) it's not balanced yet for competitive play, but it doesn't require balance either partially because everyone is playing the same team. I.e. nobody gets to use different experimental unites like in supreme commander to get an unfair advantage. Balancing isn't as important as it was in the past games.

This is the only strategy game i've found that relies solely on different play styles rather than different teams to offer the player variety, and does it so well that you don't mind playing the same team. In fact it's a welcome simplification. It's also got fewer units than supreme commander (i.e. it only has Tier 1 and Tier 2 units and then it has orbital units and Delta-V instead of experimentals.) but that is also in my opinion a welcome simplification.

I do find it slightly lacking in defensive structures though, i think it'd be nice to have shields, but i can (barely) live without the shields, and in fact i can see the argument clearly that the lack of shields makes the games quicker. But i'd argue back that you can always just thrust a planet into the turtle that used the shields and be done with him.

The only bad thing i can say about this game is that the lobby server is (currently) laggy, and massive scale battles are also going to be laggy (that is when you have several thousand units battling each other, which can happen in drawn out games or more than 2 player games.)

I'm just gonna say that the developers are doing a great job, they (and you) shouldn't listen to all the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and nonsensical negative crap being said about the game (constructive negative feedback, and comments that aren't degrading, like what i said about shields are another matter though). And if you've got a computer that meets the recommended specs, you shouldn't hold back from buying the game. (However, if you only meet the minimums i'd be careful. You preferably need a strong processor to run this game, if you've got a quaddie and meet the graphical requirements you should be good though.)

Worth every penny i spent on it. It really is worth it's AAA price tag if you're a fan of strategy games. No game has ever allowed me to fight a war of this scale in real time. And i mean ever
