Good game, Good concept. Some bugs but not game breaking. Developers should try to patch those out and get in some quality of life features.

it's a roguelike but combined with a city building game. I think it's a weird combination since for city building you want to take it slow to plan, execute and then admire your result slowly. However, the game works. It's stressful and you learn very fast to not attaching too much since all your town will be abandoned and started anew in the next circle anyways. Yet, you will retain experience and unlock new type of buildings, passive upgrades and abilities which leads to new kind of gameplay and keep things fresh out. So overall, you won't build just one few cities that last forever, but many many small towns that is also quite different in each playthrough to feel fun and refershing. So yeah, not a normal city building game but I recommending it.

Good tactical game that was ruined by badly design strategy layer. The Developers putting annoying and anti-fun feature such as randomly spawn giant behemoth that randomly destroys your potential population and resource bases and inefficient vehicle that cannot be reloaded. All of this is just to skew the balance in resource management toward scarcity by random RNG. And with less resources , you will enter fight less prepared and got overwhelmed much more easily.

Updated: game is super tedious, I'm nearly 200 hours in and my VERY FIRST campaign is not yet finished. The reasons is you have to did the main quests in order to process the story. However unlike Skyrim where the main quest will hypothetically result in an ending of the world scenario. In this game, there is not real indication that the main quest is required in order to process the story. If you read the guide, they all says you need to save and help the factions with their research and leting the AI factions die out is a huge pain to you. So you end up jumping all over the globe to save them. Meanwhile, there is no one dying if you delay the main quest so you have no real incentive to let the AI factions' bases get destroy to do the main quests.

I will update later but this game is very badly design to be as obnoxious as possible instead of "having you making the tough choice".

The game is full of cliff-hangers. The developer deliberately put tons of fetch quest in story line to force to farm for money and buy the necessary items. This makes the game pace very disrupting and kills any momentum. You will get frustrating very easy and you were exploring one story route only to be sandbagged and force to jump on a different route altogether in other to advance in both routes. And the farming is just very tedious and dull as all you do is pretty much just rolling dices. Worst of all, the art isn't really that good either, so after all the farming, all you got rewarded is lukewarm. 3/10. not recommended.

Stupid design, who in their right mind would think that having mini boss fights in a tactical game is good? who in their right mind would think that having bosses that completely ignore the team-turn-based rule of the game is good? And you have no control over this: no control where you should engage these bosses, they just randomly show up based on RNG. You have no control over your tactics because they bosses have free action for EVERY ACTION you take (minus free actions) including reloading outside of there team normal turns.. So now the best you can do is use every single of your action to shoot it or else that action is a waste because the bosses have enough damage to kill one of your dude right after the wasteful action you take.

Game design is stupid. The developers try to made it "hard" for no reason because "the old xcome was hard". The old xcom was decades ago and was as old as doom. Its design should not be the gold standard. The game was too RNG relied and the player's control was limited.

The new frontier pass makes the game actually fun to play now. However, I still recommend only playing with A LOT OF MODs.
