Auto-embed is a convenient feature provided by discord for easier consumption
of media hosted on third-party services. This feature improves the chatting
experience in Discord especially on mobile devices. Without auto-embedding,
discord chatting experience greatly degrades and creates unnecessary
annoyance for the members of the community.

The moderation team's argument against the auto embed or embed permission
for all (or at least users with ‘Civilians’ role) is that having auto embeds
increases the media spam. Chat spam with media links is a valid concern but
removing auto embed is not a proper solution to this. It's like cutting off your
fingers so that you won’t have to cut your nails.
