Out of all the scary games I've played, this one is the best. Story wise, the plot is incredibly intricate and unique. The player himself has a really long backstory that just makes you want to learn all about him. The other characters mentioned throughout the game are also very relevant to the game and really bring it all together.

As for gameplay, it is very smooth and encourages you do a lot of thinking before your next move. In order to avoid the monsters, you will need to think on the fly and be ready to run if necessary. In my opinion, the atmosphere of the game is what makes it really scary. The monsters are what add in the danger element.

The soundtrack is fantastic and is arguably the best I've ever heard. The music is what adds to the levels and really builds up the suspense. If the environment is safe, the music is calming and adds a sense of safety to an otherwise dangerous situation. The composer for the game, Mikko Tarmia, is also the same composer who worked on Frictional Games' previous series Penumbra.

Overall, this is a brilliant game and I highly recommend it to anyone who likes adventure and story.
