My journey with McSkillet began in my freshman year of high school. I had just started playing CS:GO and getting into skins. Being new to the game, i watched a ton of YouTube videos. The YouTube CS:GO scene was in its early stages and people’s channels were exploding. I remember searching for videos on skins and stumbling across his channel at a meager 10,000 subscribers. He had just begun to realize how fast he could grow on YouTube and his content was breaking the CS:GO videosphere. I watched and watched, spending hours of my time learning to appreciate both McSkillets channel and the skins he made videos on. I started commenting on his channel, defending him from haters and answering general questions about him. Eventually he took notice and asked what my Twitter was so he could follow me. After that he made me mod on his short lived Twitch.

We didn’t talk a lot, but when we did he was always incredibly kind and thankful. After twitch came his groups on steam, he made me admin on this one and mod on the other gambling/trading groups. I took my job seriously, banning and deleting the spammers, making announcements about giveaways and whatever else I could help him with.

His kindness never faltered, and one Christmas I woke up to a trade notification for a field tested dragon lore from him. I was floored with gratititude and wanted to meet him in person to thank him. He lived in San Diego and I lived an hour away. After that our relationship dwindled as he became interested less in gaming and more interested in running his sites. I never lost respect for him, the CS:GO community owes a lot to OG McSkillet.

We will all miss you. You changed a lot of people’s lives, and I owe you for getting me through dark times. I don’t know what else to say,
