To say that New Genesis is half-baked would be putting it lightly, New Genesis' release state was more akin to a bunch of separate wet/dry ingredients while the oven is still preheating.

The game is nearing a year old and somehow the optimization has only gotten worse, with stuttering and frame drops becoming commonplace. As of the Spring update of 2022 there's been a plaque of server disconnection if you so much as clean inventory in a populated block. Forcing players to go to a less populated block only makes a dying game feel even more dead.

The content schedule feels like it's still stuck in the original 2012 PSO2 JP release, and to hold you over Sega wants you to run around the same 2-3 areas grinding for hours on end.

This game is a box with a shiny coat of paint with very little substance inside and it's sad considering everything Sega has built with PSO2.

Phantasy Star Online 2 died for New Genesis and it wasn't worth it.

Still not bad

I can hold button to auto shoot, that's better than many run and gun games I played in the 90s already.

Petted the Dog; life was good.

This game hits all the 8-bit platforming, pleasure centers on my brain.

Hit stuff -> get money -> die -> buy stuff

Repeat until you don't die.

Great for avid South Park fans; regular people will still enjoy it...somewhat. Humor is offensive and crude, but where else can I get an achievement for committing a possible war crime?

Got it on sale at 50% off, and at $5 it's well worth the cost. The game is different every time you start a journey. So you can only hope for the best, and devise a strategy as you play. I've only beaten the game once on normal on all the campaigns so there's a lot of challenges and replayability. Highly recommended if it's on sale, but still worth it at full price.
