Wish I could refund it, but I bought it through another platform. The graphics are pretty and the levels have some cute ideas, but the core gameplay is really broken. Platforming is floaty and inaccurate, the camera is terrible and needs constant micromanagement, combat is one-two-rinse-repeat.

Maybe it's more fun in co-op. If you're looking for an actual 3D platformer on PC, look elsewhere. You'd probably be better off with a B-list indie title like Kao the Kangaroo or Pumpkin Jack. If you want a very beautiful-looking and well-crafted meme game that's let down by its core mechanics, this one's OK.

It can be boring on the lower difficulties and most of my builds end up as glass cannons no matter what I do. The boss behavior is usually pretty awful, bullet sponges with moves that are either telegraphed too well or not well enough. But roaming through the countryside and brutally melting hordes of enemies into slag is pretty fun.

If you want an ARPG that you can still play locally, no live service involved, and that's still maintained even years after release. you can't go wrong with this one. The base game is often 3 bucks in a sale and it's more than definitely worth that.

Oh, also, the writing is good for such a game. You'll find some really dark and gritty stories if you bother to read lore text and side quests.

This game isn't for you if you hate clowns. There are clowns in this game.

This game has clowns.

Don't buy this game if the idea of looking at a clown face bothers you. Because you will at some point be looking at clown faces.

Because this game, it has clowns.

There are clowns in this game.

Stay strong.

Anxiety from disorientation is my big problem with this. I would have liked to see the later levels, but I just couldn't.

Still recommended because the base feels very solidly done, especially at the low asking price. It just isn't for my brain.

One of the few games of this type that I like. The graphics are gorgeous, soundtrack is bangin', most of the levels feel very solidly designed. The biggest problems I had was in reading the levels themselves sometimes. What route you're supposed to take isn't always clear, some places have hidden secrets, some might just be expensive dead-ends. You have to replay levels anyway so you'll figure it out, but in some areas I would've been thankful for more signposting.

This was more than worth the full price. And that's from a miser who usually buys games only when they're 85% off and under 3 bucks.

This collection is required reading/playing for anyone who remembers the 90's Internet (or, if they're too young, anyone feeling a yearning for a 90's Internet they never experienced). The other reviewers did a better job of describing what actually goes on in these, so please read those, I'm just here to give my thumbs-up.

You can also buy the collection over on itch.io if you want to support the developer.

Totally worth it, especially for the Austrian translation. The levels are super-inventive, the base mechanics are something that hasn't really been done before and all the bosses are (more or less) fair and very interesting to beat. It's tough as nails though and sometimes you feel like it's almost random how you made it through some encounter.

It's a cute new entry into the genre and worth a (discounted) buy if you know what you're getting into:

* Don't plan on creating your own build with different attacks. The "Sequence" system means that only some predetermined sequences are best, and you'll need the damage bonus. If you don't like the initial attack you're given, better quit and restart.
* Bad luck with the RNG can ruin run after run, you'll be set up with situations you can't win.
* Some hitboxes make no sense. It's not easy to tell if you can slip by an enemy or not, as walking into *most* of their body does nothing, but if *some* part of you touches a fist while walking by, it counts as a hit. It's rarely clear what hit what.
* Keeping up enough damage output to kill the hordes is sometimes not possible, and you need to be killing nonstop in order not to get overwhelmed (see point above about the difficulty of slipping by enemies). With some luck you get an overpowering combo and you can just camp enemies for a while, though.
* Some activation points for traversal moves simply feel broken. Moving up to slide upwards over a table for example sometimes works, sometimes doesn't, a pixel left or right makes all the difference. Reliably using traversal is a chore. You'll have to memorize which objects have which activation area because it sure as hell isn't obvious from their shape.

That said, yes, it's pretty frustrating but it's also pretty fun at times. I'd give a neutral review if I could.

PS: The pixel art does not scale correctly (you'll get filtering, there's no integer scaling). But hey, at least there's no pixel shimmer. It's a bummer because the art is fine and having it crisp would improve it.

The minecart level is terrible, combat feels like it has no impact, the levels are kinda OK but I guess it's all just about enemy placement memorization. There's no way to turn off the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ screen shake. Who releases a game like this in 2022?

Didn't groove with me. I did like and finish the original Shinobis (arcade and Mega Drive) so it's not like I don't enjoy this type of game.
