I got Freespace 2 from Good Old Games.com (awesome site!). Is that the best installment? Will I get to be free and fly around, atm I am serving a faction fighting against rebels. Doing mission after mission.

Hey Lobster, I had to make a decision for both of us regarding F&S. We are unable to keep things going with both of us quite busy or unavailable meanwhile F&S hit a trough in activity since the PW & M&M addition to the LCC community. I promoted Trajan and Nuingaer as primary leaders, lowered my position of power but maintaining some for the link to MXC and unfortunately dropped you from leadership.

If someday you finally get much more free time and you are eager to lead us again perhaps we can work something out.
