Loved it! Utterly amazing follow up to the Portal games.

Positives:
Way too many to count! It's has really clever puzzles, and they even made new mechanics to play with, not just rehashing old ones. There is a full fan made story that feels like it could be canon, complete with voice acting, and the scenery is incredible,

Middle:
A couple of the chambers don't feel as clean as the base games, and felt like they have a couple of unintended solutions. Which can be great if you like the feel of breaking things! But can be a bit rough if you're new to puzzle solving.

Negatives:
There are a couple of long walking sections in the middle of the game.
If you're a story person, the writers didn't stick the landing. It feels pretty abrupt.

Bloody excellent game by a bloody excellent group of developers.
It was a bit hairy when Sony stepped in and tried to greed all over the place, but the community and Arrowhead banded together for some good quality consumer advocacy.

If you wanna shoot some bugs and some bots with 3 mates, I highly recommend it =D

There is a sound bug that has been prevalent since its release. You can make it more stable, but it can't be fixed. The devs have abandoned the game and there is no chance of it being fixed. Don't buy this game if you're a casual gamer.

Pretty sweet hack and slash roguelite.
Unique art style and good RPG mechanics throughout.

Early Access Review
This game is close to my perfect game. I love it.

A mix of city building elements (like Frostpunk or Rimworld) mixed with rogue like elements and perpetual progression (like Rogue Legacy or Hades).

It's in early access and I've already sunk 30 hours into it with so much more progression to come.

Edit: At 86 hours and it's still going pretty strong.

Edit: I just finished the game the full playthrough. Added the edit to the bottom of the review.
---------------
This is very 'meh' compared to the first Dying Light.

They have put so much focus on the Multiplayer and the Open World aspects of the game, that so much of this game is just lacking, unpolished and unloved.

Examples of Lack of Polish:
- Every safe in the world has a combination between 1-9. Despite all the safes having a turning dial between 1-99. They made all the puzzles for digital safes.
- The dialogue is just abysmal. There are sections in the dialogue that refer to events that have not happened. E.g. "Come on Aiden, I just told you I was leaving." - No you didn't, you didn't tell me you were leaving at all... There are multiple, multiple instances where the dialogue hasn't been properly proof read.

Movement:
This is what we all came here for. The amazing parkour of Dying Light! It's not the same. Again, it just feels less polished and just clunkier than the original. It's not nearly as fun racing around the city.

Combat:
The zombies are SO much easier, and night time is way less threatening than Dying Light. After you get yourself your first decent weapon that does above 40 dmg, it's so much easier to just cleave through the zombies than to run around them, or sneak past them.

Open World:
This suffers the same fate as a lot of other open world games. They have attempted to stuff so much content into the game, that quests become very repetitive and the gameplay loop becomes stale after about 25 hours. It's better to just charge straight through the story quests, because you will quickly become bored of all the extraineous extras.

Main Character:
They used the same voice actor as David Craine from the first one. But it's not the same character. It makes Aiden feel even more bland and 'everyman' that Dying Light. It's so distracting.

What's Good??:
- The movement is still enjoyable enough, even though it's not as good as the first one.
- The new darkness mechanic is pretty cool. You can only spend a small amount of time (approx 5 mins) in the darkness which creates a bit of tension during night or when you're indoors. But you find SO MANY uv consumables that the tension evaporates after the first time you encounter it.
- It's pretty. They did a good job on making it look decent and run decent.
--------------
New Edit:
I just came back to the game about a year after its release to finish the main story. I was hoping it would have been polished with some updates, but no. It's still incredibly meh with all the previous issues from the review above.

The finale is just awful.........
You spend the whole game learning all these awesome parkour mechanics, leaping around the city, grappling hooking everywhere, leaping over obstacles, running around zombies, etc.
The final boss is a plain circle boss-battle arena with no obstacles and no parkour mechanics. You just hit them with your melee weapon. The final boss is even immune to arrows and parkour attacks. So if you're wearing gear that buffs those playstyles, just get wrecked I guess?

The awful pacing, awful dialogue, 'surprise twist' that wasn't foreshadowed at all... and the god awful boss fight is just a beautiful 30 minute summary of everything wrong with this game.

The game is fun and enjoyable enough.

But the queue times are ATROCIOUS!!
- You aren't able to queue for multiple game modes at once, so you have to guess what people are playing.
- You have to constantly click back into the game every minute to confirm you're still in the queue.
- You have to play against bots for the first 4 levels (not a bad thing, lets you get some practice) but for some reason, the queues against the just bots still take about 5 minutes to load in.

Hi-Rez
Please implement a few quality of life changes to the queuing system to stop me having to wait 30 minutes for a 10 minute match.

Until this is fixed, this game is a "No" from me.

It's one of the best TD games out there.

This is a very 'chewy' game. There is a lot of content, and a lot of special interactions to master.
It crosses a hectic party management game, similar to Baldur's Gate or Neverwinter Nights with a fairly decent city builder game.

The difficulty pacing is nice on the standard difficulty. The majority of fights are fairly straight forward, but there are plenty of optional fights to really test your metal and understanding of different elements of the game.

If you want something to dig into for a solid 50-60 hours, I can recommend it.
If you're more into simplistic games where you can switch off your brain, maybe skip past it.
