Adding a negative review. I used to love this game till it became the grind fest it is today between '16 and now.

As a Company of Heroes 1 fan, this has my attention again. CoH2 was never it for me, I never caught on. This is where it is at. There's a few bugs I would consider concerning, but nothing outright game breaking.

Those that are complaining are complaining about things core to CoH. CoH2's graphics were (imo) average at release, same here. Many similar issues just don't annoy a "CoH purest" - this is the series I fell in love with 15 years ago, and I'm so glad it's back.

A few genuine and valid objections.

- Rare (on 1 map I am aware of) graphical flickering on a rock texture
- Zoom out isn't far enough (There is a mod to fix this, but c'mon.)
- The new UI is just a bit "off" - things don't really flow properly, like the unit construction que is in a place that just doesn't make a whole lot of sense.
- The mouse-pan is just way too fast for anything useful.

I've had to change this review a lot. The game as it stands is the best state it has been in. The class system is basically the same as before, with a few key limitations. It has not had an impact on game play, at least for me.

Keep in mind, the devs have broken the game with new updates before, and then fixed them later, I would expect them to do it again.

Recent updates are making this game unplayable. I will change my recomendation when this reverts. Sad thing is this is an otherwise lovely game.

Solid game.

You either play missions that are way to easy and get bored, or you play missions that are way too hard and lose everything. Not my type of game, I don't like grinding easy missions like a F2P game that I've paid for. I appreciate the concept, but just ain't for me.

It takes the economy and slows it down to a snails pace. It shifts all focus onto micro which is fine early game, but late game it's horrific. It's horrendous. It's so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ slow paced. I spent 4 hours trying to kill an AI on Achelous river, and all that AI did was spam units, and spam units, and spam units, while I couldn't, I couldn't produce any more units because I was getting no new resources.

It disallows in-combat repair

It makes on map-artillery cost munitions, further slowing and limiting game play

It has a dead multiplayer scene

The AI doesn't take health buffs, but most definitely has resource buffs.

Should you play it? Eh, if you're bored. Stick with the older mods, Vanilla multiplayer, and wait for CoH3.

I was hoping this map would bring back original ballancing, Pershing and Calliope spam >:D from the original game.

At this point? Frankly quite boring. I just spent an hour watching a CL chase a CA, both nuked each others engines and then missed for 25 mins straight, I just alt + f4ed. re-logged and auto resolved. Got a lot of work to do with this one...

Updating just under a year later.

The game is worse off now. Battles lag to ♥♥♥♥ with more than 50 ships (which happens fairly often) forcing you to autoresolve what should be fun battles.

Campaign UI is still stupid and clunky.

As I type this I am trying to load into a campaign and have been trying to do so for the past 30 minutes, in doing so it is about half way there. This "Feature" basically makes all 1930/40 campaign starts unplayable.

Game is going backwards...

Tried to get into a campaign (start a new one) so far I've waited about 20 minutes. This isn't just me either.
