Early Access Review
Love it, can't wait to see the developers keep improving and adding things. I was never into ghost hunting and paranormal stuff, but this concept as a game is really REALLY fun. Especially in multiplayer, my time spent playing as been equal parts exciting, scary, and hilarious.

Decent short game, a little awkward at first to sort out what to do at parts but not too bad. Not very scary (two small jumpscares) but lots of good creepy ambiance and tension. Mostly intuitive as to what the game wants you do to, but a couple parts had to wander around to move the story forward in a couple spots. There is only one puzzle in the game which is a little annoying but not too bad. Just want you to know what to expect here. For 3 bucks it was a very good, bite-sized, spooky experience. I'm glad I played it.

I'm still on my first play through (I've played for about 3 hours as of writing this review) and I'm really struggling to fully enjoy it. The voice acting, sounds/music, and visuals are all fantastic, and the basic idea around the plot is definitly creepy and interesting... but there are a couple of issues that ruin the game for me and make playing it feel like a chore.

There is far too much inane dialogue. It starts right off the bat... there's no easing into getting to know the characters, it throws you right into a conversation with two people you have no connection with (as the player). In games like these I usually expect to be thoughtfully intoduced to the characters so that I can get a feel for them and start to grow attached to them and care about them; Unfortunatly, there's nothing like that in this game. Even after you finally get a sense of the relationship dynamics at play, it continues to just feel like hanging around with a group of people you've never met... which, for me, equates to a pretty boring time.

There's no quiet exploration moments in this game (which would be so deeply enjoyable because the rest of the atmosphere is really fantastic), instead every moment is filled with insessant and unrelatable converstation. A lot of the relationship geared conversations especially feel hollow and unrealistic to me, and the game does nothing to get me invested or attached to any of the characters. As it is, it feels more like trying to go about your business while listening to a group of strangers talk to each other.

The reply choices in these conversations usually don't fall in line with what I genuinely would like to answer with (which is understandable... there are probably too many replies that could be made). However, even udnerstanding that, often the reply you choose ends up with a bit of a different delivery and tone than you were expecting based on the text bubble choices you were presented with. So I felt like, even as I tried to engage with these characters, I wasn't really effecting much of anything... the game seems to have its own ideas all planned out and I'm futily clicking on responces hoping that it is the actual choice I wanted. Often I didn't have time to select an answer, and the bubbles disappear too quickly.

In other instances, usually when trying to tune the radio, the characters on screen won't stop talking so that I could hear the radio messages. In other instances finding the right channel to unlock the doors was basically all guess work and not intuitive at all.

I really really want to like this game for how well all the artistic componenets go together and the potential the story has... but the dialogue frustrations I've mentioned above keep me from genuinely enjoying my time in this game. I never have time to sink in and feel immersed, it's always intteruped by talking. I plan to cotinue playing until the end, and hope that maybe some of these issues clear up.

I'm going to say I would recommend this game because I do know some who would be fine with, and enjoy the constant dialogue of the game. If that's so, then it should be great for you, becasue everything else is good to great! But if you think the constant conversations I described would be as annoying to you as they are to me, then I would suggest probably skipping this game.

Judging from the acheivements I earned I'm about half way done with the game. I was going to wait until I completed the whole game, but I can't. I got stuck on a runner level and was getting sick of it (seriously, I was about to just quite the game for good for how much I loath this pointless level) until I finally did beat it (and was overjoyed for about two seconds)... until my alien zoomed straight past the score board for that level and and the game proceeded to basically bug out and get stuck. The animaltion of rain and the music was still going, so it wasn't frozen, it just failed to animate the scoreboard after I went past it. I hate that level so much, beating it once should have been enough (it didn't count me beatingthe level becaue I had to quit out of the stuck scene). So I think I'm done with this game. I want my money back, honestly. Nearly 3 hours wasted on this.

This is a good game when you want to clear your head and relax. If you're looking for lots of action and adventure, this is not the type of game you want. This is really a very casual game, in a good way, consider this a relaxation type of endeavor. It's also gorgeous on desktop, but if I put the settings way down I can also play it comofrtably on my dinky macbook air (yet, of course, it's not as gorgeous looking with the settings down). Some of the little dialogue jokes get old very quickly.

This is the game that finally brought me to Steam itself. The first chapter is quite gorey, heavy, and frightening, but the subsequent chapters mellow out quite a bit and take on a more fantasy adventure feel (yet remain delightfully spooky). Chapters 2 and 3 are by far the best and those are the chapters I revisit most when I replay.

Edit: So I've been on Steam for a while now, and this still rates as possibly my most favorite. I can't recommend this enough.
