So Pineapple Smash Crew,

Believe it or not this is actually one of the first games i picked up on this platform, it just happened to pass by one day and after seeing the neo-retro artstyle my compulsive little gamer brain had decided to buy it before my parents' bank account could ever object.

But enough personal exposition. What's the game like i hear you ask.
Well in terms of gameplay it stays true to that retro feel i mentioned earlier. Though i don't see that as a bad thing (and i'm never wrong), the mechanics that are here feel more polished because of it. The roguelike crew-management mechanics are a nice touch too and incentivise you to actually think and strategize rather than going in guns a blazing, though there is still more than enough opportunity for that don't worry.

Closely tied to this aforementioned strategising is the grenade mechanic. In the game each of your soldiers can carry a grenade, these 'nades come in many different types with each having their own unique behaviour. This is in my humble gamer opinion one of the most important mechanics in the game, as it not only directly affects the way you play this game but also allows you to quickly switch up your style of gameplay if things aren't really working out. Wanna take things more slow? Take the shield and heal grenade. Need some more firepower? Use the laser and missile grenades. You get the point.

Is all of this worth 10 bucks though? If you'd ask me i'd probably say why not? I don't mind supporting indie developers and to me that more than makes up for the extra costs. But if you're short on money i'd suggest you put this on your wishlist and wait for the next steam sale. Because if you like top-down retro shooters, i think this should be right up your alley.

Oh and P.S: Game's got a dope soundtrack

So as a hardcore competitive scribblenauts and super scribblenauts player i of course had to check this game out. Here's what i think after finishing the game: Basically it's simple, like really simple. No i don't mean that figuratively i mean that literally. Seriously what happened? The first 2 games had some really challenging puzzles, you needed to think outside the box to solve them. In this game you can complete most puzzle by either: 1) writing the word 'jetpack', or 2) just applying the adjective they name in like the first hint, actually not even in the first hint they give you that one when they introduce the puzzle to you.

One thing however i DO really like is the amount of customisation this game allows. I gotta tell you it's always a plus in my book when a game allows me to virtually create a perfect representation of myself. My avatar even has my signature chiseled jawline. This customisation also extends further into the game, allowing you to make your own weapons, creatures, vehicles, etc... When i saw this i got the same endorphin rush i got from when i first booted up garry's mod. Also of course, steam workshop support is a solid +1.

So is this game for you? Well as most reviews that can't seem to make up their mind would tell you: It depends.

If you're in it for the puzzles, i'd probably suggest skipping this one and getting one of the older scribblenauts games for the nintendo DS instead.

If what initially got you interested is the customisation aspect, then yes i think this game might be right up your alley.

This game, though it did have some performance issues ngl, was one of the most beautiful games i played the year i picked it up. Actually, that's not exactly true when i initially picked it up those aforementioned performance issues were too bad to play it on my crappy laptop at the time. HOWEVER, when i later on a random evening decided to boot it up i was very grateful i didn't just skim over this title like i most often do. At first the artstyle kinda made me think that gonzossm (dunno if you know him he's on youtube) had made a career switch, but that's a bit of an unfair comparison and i'm getting off-track. What i'm trying to say here is that while the mechanical formula of this game isn't really anything to write home about, the attention to detail and polished artstyle make this something that, imo, you should look into.

And if you're still not convinced by this strong-worded review: this game has the prestigious status of being one of the 10 games on steam that actually has a playable pc demo. So if you're a cheapskate (like me!), go play that first. I'll guarantee you you won't regret it.

I love this, it's an amazing remake.

Too bad my gf's too scared of the headcrabs to make it past chapter 3, i'll have to deduct some points for that.

So overal it's a 10/10 cuz it would've been an 11/10 anyway go play this, like right now.

Sorry but i got to be honest. This game is extremely unbalanced and youll mostly die on the first day by a zombie that wont stop chasing you away. Not to mension that the framerate is worse than in minecraft.

I like this game. With its cool atmosphere, fine artstile, realistic physics and fun puzzle make this game a hidden gem. Its packed to the brim with memorable momenst and hidden secrets. I suggest you buy this game immediatly after you finnished reading this.
