A great mix of all my favorite things, stardew, harvest moon, story of seasons, rune factory etc. I lean towards the RPG aspect a little more than the straight mechanics, and so I've always leaned towards rune factory and story of seasons ( trio of towns) a bit more than stardew. I think this game is EXCELLENT at taking the fun game play and also adding so much life to its characters and interactions. Also, the art is SO CUTE and the entire game is beautiful and relaxing.

Characters- All of the NPCs have interesting, dynamic friendship groups with each other. Every Friday night everyone gathers in the town pub, and there are several continuing story lines that are hilarious and fun interactions. You really feel included in a town of charming characters, it brings it to life. They will follow up with you on past conversations with groups or just you, they do a great job of making the characters feel alive. Everyone has a different seasonal outfit which is just such a cute touch.

Mining/crafting/fishing/collecting- The mining and collecting is really fun and addictive, and for early access there's quite a lot to do. I'm really happy with the quality of life aspects. You don't have to refill your watering can, you can buy most seasonal herbs/flowers you need for the museum if you don't want to grow them or you can't find them, you can change your entire appearance and clothes ANY TIME from your quick menu and save multiple outfits, etc. You are rewarded very well for donating to the museum, you quickly get lots of items and treasure chests and it makes it fun and rewarding to keep collecting. The mines currently go to the 60th floor, and you can easily pass a couple seasons progressing that story line and collecting/ upgrading materials.

I can't wait for this game to keep updating. I'm very skeptical and picky when it comes to committing to new games, but i've already easily played 40 hours. This game had me hooked immediately. For the price and the amount of content already accessible I think it's a great deal.
