Good stuff. Not necessarily an improvement over TAG1, but far from bad. It's definitely easier than TAG1 as well, and I think the main contributor to that is the Hammer and the arenas. TAG1's arenas were super tight, and required precise movement. There's hardly any environmental hazards, whereas TAG1 was full of them, and your movement needed to be much more precise. Still, an enjoyable experience.

A more or less worthy successor to the first HuniePop. Playing on incel difficulty, the gameplay is great, the new mechanics and systems don't feel out of place and they add a satisfying challenge to every date. However, as the title suggests, double dates seem to be par for the course in this game, which seems odd to me. I think it would've made more sense if double dates were special, ultra hard events that you couldn't just complete haphazardly.

Also, this is personal preference, but I just don't think the new cast of characters is superior to the old one. The old characters had more charm to them, in my opinion. And the dev removed best girl Audrey from the game. Unlucky. I think Brooke is her aunt or something, though.

Some aspects of the game require a bit of polish. For example, I noticed quite a bit of typos in my first few hours of playing, and the food system seems slightly unintuitive; sometimes it feels like you can feed the girls multiple times and sometimes only once, but that might just be me.

Apart from that, however, auxiliary features such as achievements and Steam trading cards are, disappointingly, completely absent. I bought the game expecting to be able to enjoy 100%-ing it just like the first game, getting every achievement and all that, but I was quite disappointed when I realized that there are no achievements. Hopefully these features will be added as supplemental additions in later updates.

The rest of the game grew on me fast, though. The soundtrack is great, just like in the first game, voice acting is okay for the most part, and the art is good, pretty much the same as in the first game. Bonus points for the UI, though, it's colorful and satisfying to look at and interact with.

Was it worth waiting 6 years for this? I can't be sure. This is not one of those games you check up on every single day in anticipation of its release, but when you realize it has released, it can be a pleasant surprise. I did check up somewhat regularly on the game during its development, and I'm aware of some of the controversies that surrounded it and the whole situation with what happened to the dev, and that seems to be the primary cause for development taking so long. Regardless, the slight development hell this game has gone through really hasn't impacted it much at all.

For now, the reviews speak for themselves. If you enjoyed the first game, you will almost certainly enjoy this one as well, if you are willing to take up a bigger challenge. And even if you're like me and you're not particularly fond of most of the characters, most of them are still enjoyable due to the fact that everything surrounding them is so well made. It really is an outlier among these kinds of games. Rarely are they so solid as the games in this series, and HuniePop's success is a testament to that.

Finally, if you care about that sort of thing, I believe the Steam version comes uncensored by default.

Think of the base game as a tutorial for this.

Worth the play, whether you're a Half-Life fan or not. Pretty lengthy campaign for a single-player FPS as well. Xen is absolutely amazing...

But! I must say, even after replaying through the game with the Xen update, Surface Tension is still the best chapter in the game. It has so many amazing set pieces, in my opinion the best soundtrack, and is second only to Blast Pit in capturing the "essence" of Half-Life. For me, the game peaks at this chapter.

Those might look like crepes, but crepes are a type of pancake after all.

Customizable osu! client for Steam with some useful and some joke features. I almost feel like I play better on this one than on the official client.

I'm not sure if the people who rated negative even played the same game as I did.

This game is a fantastic old school FPS with surprisingly good writing. Even if half the jokes are for 12 year olds at best, most of the writing actually has heart unlike so many modern games.

It's funny how this game makes fun of anime pandering to otaku and yet it panders to western anime fans.

Why do you think 95% of the (positive) reviewers have an anime profile pic?

The game is good, apart from the writing and the characters being a bit unrealistic. I admit that's not a valid flaw, as this is simply a piece of fiction meant to depict characters in their own society and surroundings. I thought about comparing the characters to people in today's society, but I realized it doesn't really work that way since their specific way of life makes them seem kind of larger-than-life, and their way of thinking makes it pointless to compare them to us.

Though I am not sure if any person/character would talk and behave the way many characters in this game do regardless of realism or surroundings. (Dorothy)

Also there's a lot of obscure internet jargon which only people who lurk on (anime) imageboards and the like will get, but it doesn't take away or add anything to the game. Though if you're thinking about playing this game chances are you already lurk on /a/ or have ExHentai bookmarked.
