Completely removed in-game chat in response to criticism of the russian invasion of Ukraine.

Has had multiple years to address the myriad issues that players have with the game, but instead opt to release hundreds of premium vehicles for prices that rival full releases of other games. Issues from beta still persist to this day and the game has had over a decade to handle them.

I have personally played for thousands of hours, with plenty of paid content on my account, and I can tell you from firsthand experience that this game is a great concept turned into a ruthless cashgrab. If you must play it, do not spend a single cent on premium content.

In the spirit of past Paradox titles, Imperator: Rome is having the dents of its release buffed out over time with free content patches and supplemental DLC.

I agree with most in that Imperator has its flaws, and at launch it was a largely empty map painter, but I believe the game is now far superior to its previous state on release, and is worth a purchase and playthrough by anyone that enjoyed CK2, and potentially CK3 (though with much of the UI being majorly overhauled in CK3, it may take some time to get used to for those who first picked up Paradox tiles with CK3).

I hope they continue to polish the game and add more content, and I'm hoping that someday I can do a mega-campaign from antiquity all the way up to the cold war.

TLDR: Absolutely awful implementation of multiplayer. Avoid at all costs.

This is possibly the most egregious example of EA insisting on ruining the player experience at all costs in order to maximize profits, and first party software use. Battlelog is choking on its age by this point, and running this game through steam highlights that fact.

In order to launch the game, steam has to launch your web browser, which will direct you to a log in page for battlelog. Good luck with finding a server and getting it to launch properly, because battlelog now has to launch Origin, and your browser now needs to start siphoning data to origin, waiting for the reply back saying you're A-ok to play the game.

You now have to go through three or four steps just to get the game to launch, each step being progressively more buggy and likely to break the experience than the last.

This game is just a shortcut to Origin. Do not buy.
