Short but great. Also the only game I've played with a CRT filter that actually enhances the pixel art.

Man, this was great. I have a couple nitpicks (zombies in the stealth section were annoying, Episode 2's depiction of Black Mesa is retconned to being Arbeit's offices). Overall though, this is the best sourcemod I've ever played. Very polished, plenty of fanservice, and a surprisingly good story.

Also be sure to play the first Entropy: Zero. It may not be on the same level as this one, but it's still a good time.

Despite having come out in 2018, this game still has the most advanced locomotion I've seen in a VR game. Super fun movement and a great sense of scale.

In terms of gameplay, this game is great. The cars feel great to control and there's some surprisingly advanced tech. The level creation tools are also quite advanced and allow you to make some extremely high quality tracks.

All that said, the way this game is monetized makes it hard to recommend. You get some content for free, but the real meat of the game requires a subscription of $25 CAD a year to access. If I subscribed to this game at launch, I would have spent $100 on it by now. Considering you can buy every previous entry in the series and still spend less than that, that's a pretty steep asking price and it brings down an otherwise great game. If the pricing was changed to a one-time fee, I would happily recommend this.

If you're familiar with the original, the changes made in this version will make you feel like you're playing it for the first time again. I've enjoyed this version so far, but I'd also recommend playing the original if you haven't already. Both versions are very different and that makes it hard to recommend one version over the other.

It's crusty, janky, and has questionable level design, but man is it fun and it has an excellent story to boot.

Being a fan of Cyan's previous games, I was hoping this would be up to the same level of quality. Sadly, I just couldn't get into this one.

As gorgeous as this game looks, that's really all I was able to enjoy about it. The puzzles I experienced felt like a big step down from Cyan's previous games. Where those were excellently crafted logic puzzles that had you exploring the environment for hints to get a solution, Firmament's puzzles are more like slide puzzles. You'll know the solution right away, but getting there is rather tedious.

Any I was able to find during my brief time with this game also felt lacking. There are many books in the Swan, but most of them are the same copypasted poem. The ghost lady who follows you around is also very vague about what's happening and mostly just points out stuff you can get by looking at the environment. Other reviews mention a bug where she doesn't talk at all and I almost wish I had that bug because I found her to just be annoying (especially with how she's placed in your vision in VR mode).

Speaking of VR mode, that also feels very lacking. The only objects you can interact with are the books, and even then those interactions are limited. Your hands have no collision and you can't even jankily pick up objects like you could in the Myst remake. The fact that you can only activate things using the adjunct only makes your interactions feel even more limited since there are no levers or buttons to grab or push. Even Obduction's VR mode felt more immersive and the interactions in that game were basically just a mouse click.

After reading other people's review and seeing that the rest of the game is like this, I don't feel any motivation to play any further and have requested a refund. I'm sorry, Cyan. I love your previous games and I really wanted to enjoy this one as well, but it just isn't doing it for me.

I played the classic JellyCar trilogy to death when I was a teenager and love those games dearly. I even replayed them a few months ago to get ready for this game's release. JellyCar Worlds easily tops those classic game. Controls are tighter than ever, levels are more refined and offer more challenges to complete, and the soundtrack is wonderful. The flipbook style cutscenes at the beginning of each chapter are super charming and add an extra layer of personality to the game. For how much content this game has (with more on the way!), the price is an absolute bargain and I can't recommend buying it enough.
