As I type this review, Dead by Daylight is currently in a weird spot and I intend to share my opinions on the game in hope that it will help people decide whether to buy the game or not, so let's get into it.

As each game nowadays, Dead by Daylight has both downsides and upsides depending on what you seek from the title:

-If you're looking for a game that might scare you, Dead by Daylight is not really the best option.
You will probably feel a bit of anxiety during your first hours into the game but the longer you go, the more you realize that it takes more of a tragicomic turn on which i will talk more deeply into in a bit.

-For gameplay options, Dead by Daylight offers us 2 main gamemodes which are "Survivor" and "Killer". As Survivor, your objective is to successfully repair a total of 5 generators in order to power the exit gates and leave the match alive while the Killer tries to hunt you down. As Survivor you also have a faster vaulting speed than the Killer in order to jump through windows while trying to make a gap between you and the not so friendly fella coming for you;
You also have access to "Pallets" which can be pulled down in order to block a Killer's path, forcing them to waste precious time getting rid of it.

As Killer, on the other hand, your task will be to prevent those 5 generators from being completed while you try catch the survivors and bring them to "sacrificial hooks" in order to take them out of the game.

Both Killer and Survivor side will have access to a maximum number of 4 "perks", 1 "item" and 1 "offering" to bring along in the match.

Currently, Dead by Daylight has a total of 261 perks which are divided between "shared" and "personal" perks. Each character comes with their own 3 perks, which will become available to other characters once they have been leveled up enough using the in-game currency.

-The Dead by Daylight community is a 50/50 between toxic and nice players, it doesn't get as bad as League of Legends or Overwatch 2 where the "friendly" messages you may receive will be targeted towards your life and/or family, the worst thing you might get called on DbD might simply be "idiot" but it very very rarely goes beyond that.

-A bit of a personal advice due to my experience, playing Survivor alone is not necessarily bad but i would recommend playing alongside some friends to make the game more enjoyable.

-I highly believe that Dead by Daylight is a skill dependant game that also benefits from the amount of knowledge you have as both Killers and Survivors will need experience to have better chances of success, let me explain:
The game offers a high variety of killers that come along their personal power, which could make a character stronger than another in certain scenarios, we are going to use the "Trapper" for our example as his power is pretty direct and doesn't require too much of an explanation;

His power is being able to place a bear trap on the ground that will trigger and immobilize a Survivor if they were to step on it, leaving them vulnerable to being grabbed by the Killer; During your first games against the "Trapper" you will most likely fall in one of his traps which will probably get you killed, but it's not necessarily something to beat yourself up about, as you now know that in your next game against him a trap could be placed in that spot, perhaps leaving you with a more careful eye for traps.

Now, of course, not every power can be as simple as a bear trap on the ground; Having characters like Micheal Myers and Ghostface who prefer to stalk Survivors in order to expose them and get the upper hand, or Albert Wesker and "The Plague" with an infection like kind of power and so on.

-Dead by Daylight can be a beginner friendly game but it's not really guaranteed either.
The game is based on a MMR system and on "ranks" which will both get higher the better you perform, if a beginner decides to play with their friend who has played millions of games it will surely not be like a walk in the park for them.

-One last thing I should add is that if you're interested in the game because of a specific character like Ada Wong or Nemesis or pretty much whatever comes out from other games/movies, those characters will only be available through either premium currency or Steam dlcs. Other "unlicensed" characters can instead be bought with a secondary in-game currency ( different from the one used to level up characters ) that you will obtain by playing the game. There is also a wide selection of cosmetic that you can buy for your characters with the majority of them being available for secondary in-game currency.

In conclusion, Dead by Daylight I believe is worth the price on Steam, as it's very easy to get addicted to and it won't really get you tired out quickly. There is a steady income of new content which brings new things to get used to and learn.
I do recommend the game if you're looking for something new to play, both alone and with friends, and you're willing to learn about the game.
