A fantastic mod that shines the spotlight back on the Portal franchise for another run through Aperture Science. Complete with cutscenes, voice acting and its own (very nice) soundtrack, Portal Stories: Mel is an excellent game to scratch that quantum tunneling itch. Best of all, it costs ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!

Without giving too much of the story away, you play as the eponymous Mel who has signed herself up for some SCIENCE. Needless to say, things go wrong. After stumbling around for a bit you find a ye olde portal device and get to work flinging yourself everywhere. Eventually, you meet up with a personality core that wants to help you escape. The two of you set off for freedom, but nothing is ever that easy...

Be warned: even if you dream about portals the puzzles in this game won't be a walk in the park. The game starts out 'difficult' and ramps it up from there. My playtime is indicitive of one playthrough. A couple of the puzzles left me stumped; I had to come back later with a fresh perspective to nail them. If other mods or custom maps seem too easy for you, try Portal Stories: Mel.

(Obligatory 10/10 would X again comment that I see in every other review)
