Worth playing with friends!!! Pretty sure the solo-queue experience is garbage tho... I was initially intimidated by the game but it's actually pretty fun once you get the hang of it!

Game is so fun actually!!!
Lots of personality... the art is amazing... difficult and complex gameplay...
A must-have for card-game loving fanatics!!!

Get this game for Drillbert alone, thank you.

In all seriousness, this game reminds me of DigDug if it were a tower defense game! You have to find resources underground and haul them up, fighting waves of monsters/aliens in between. Pretty fun! I play it at the "intended' difficulty and it keeps me pretty occupied. There are much easier modes, and you can even just play WITHOUT the tower defense part if all you want is to dig, upgrade, and then leave. XD

TL;DR
-More hack'n'slash than roguelite but more DarkSoulsLite???
-Become a slave to capitalism to become a big strong boy
-Why my wepon so slow and enemy attack so fast???
-7 out of 10, would play for a moderate amount of time

Combat
I think it feels a bit slow, but I think it's because I'm used to the responsiveness of something like Hollow Knight. It's not really about reaction and agility, moreso about playing smart. It may be a hack'n'slash, but you play more like Dark Souls (you got a dodgeroll, you got health potions!) I do feel the enemies attack pretty quickly with very short telegraphing, but being smart and learning patterns makes them easy to deal with. Bosses are and exception and telegraphed pretty well, imo. The weapon variety is fun, and nice you can hold 2 weapons at a time. I think your attack animation has a little too many end-animation frames so it makes you feel like a slow boy dragging his feet

Progression
You have to sell the items you find in dungeons to make money and expand your base and power level (weapon upgrades, armor upgrades). You also have to make sure to save some items to make sure you have enough for said upgrades. There's a little shop mini-game where you figure out the economy of your items... What's the value of this item? What about when it's at a low or high demand? Oh god I sold an item worth 5000 for 10 gold wtf!!! At first it was pretty fun, but it got stale pretty quickly because it was a huge time sink. I just ended up looking up the prices on the wiki since waiting for all your items to sell and trial & erroring your item prices takes forever!

Story
It's very subtle. Not very IN YO' FACE. You're just some guy that wants to find out what's in the spooky cool dungeon thing. Wish there was a little more depth to it but it's whatever, I've only played the first 2 dungeons out of 4 or 5. Like, I have no attachment to any of these characters because there's just nothing to get emotionally invested in.

Overall Thoughts
I come back to this game, so that's saying a lot actually. As an adult that's busy with life, I'm very picky about games I come back to so the fact that I come back and decided to make a relatively long review to this means that I like it enough! The combat cons are meh, but I can play around it. Figuring out how to be a strong boy is more fun than the frustration of being a slow boy. Progression can be a little annoying, but I have a handy dandy wiki to lessen the capitalism simulator time sink.

I've ONLY played about half an hour and... I dunno, I just can't get into it. And I love roguelikes and have played a good amount of them. Maybe I'll give it a little more time and if I change my mind, I'll edit the review but for now my opinion is that it's kinda meh?

Maybe this is a nitpick but the platforming is not that great.
The jumping feels like ♥♥♥♥ because there are some platforms that you just can't jump to. The game tells you not to destroy EVERY destroyable item because you might need them to get to an inaccessible area, so yeah, that's fine I guess? (Even though I think being able to destroy ♥♥♥♥ is fun and telling players not to destroy ♥♥♥♥ is kinda lame but I digress) Anyway, NORMAL platforming to get from one side to another just feels like ♥♥♥♥! It just feels like there isn't any love into the environmental design and it's just a victim to ♥♥♥♥♥♥ code to randomly generate a room. You tell yourself, "Oh I can jump to that platform." BZZZT nope! Gotta jump to THIS platform first by going BACKWARDS and THEN you can go forward. Huh??

Another thing: for a platformer AND a bullet hell, there's no built-in dash or a way to clear bullets with bullets that move WAY too fast and have like 0 telegraphing from the enemies. Even top-down games (e.g. Enter the Gungeon, Binding of Isaac, Hades), which gives you even more movement to begin with, usually come with bullet clearing and/or dodgerolls/dash or better telegraphing or slower bullets... platformers limit your movement a lot because gravity so this just feels even worse not to have any I-frames, a way to clear bullets, and barely any telegraphing.... Just feels like I have a rock tied to my ankle with bullets slapping me around. Even learning what the enemy attack patterns are doesn't help much imo.

I have no opinion on the item/gun versatility since I really haven't played for that long. The basic thought I had was: the guns are fun, items are not that memorable.
The random passives you get through "eggs" is honestly a stupid mechanic alsdkfjasdf why couldn't they just be random items you just FIND in the game rather than just having an RNG-fest? xD That's right, the eggs themselves are RNG. They may hatch and they may not. And when they hatch, it's another randomizer to decide what passive you get. I expect RNG in a game like this but omg this is a stupid way to do it xD

Idk, it's not an AWFUL game but I think it's not for me!

Initial 1-2 hr thoughts:
-Cute, charming, and simple rogue-lite that follows the basic recipe to its genre.
-I really appreciate the dev's design choices when regarding telegraphing enemy attacks and being able to identify bullets. Enemy variety is fun this way!
-Simple is good. If you already know the rogue-like scene, this game will be very easy to pick up.
-I do think there is an excess of floors, felt like the run was EXTREMELY long for a game like this.
-Weapon and item variety seems fun! I think it's cool that you can quickly swap them and aren't locked into specific weapons/equipment.

Super chaotic fun! Love bringing this game out every once in a while to ♥♥♥♥ my friends up :) Easy to learn, inspired by arcade games, pixel graphics!!! My only complaint is that it can be an eyesore in terms of having a LOT going on on the screen so it's hard to tell where you are sometimes.

Pretty fun and simple card game that incorporates an innovative "movement" mechanic around a ring. Easy to understand general gameplay, amazing art style that adds to a chilling atmosphere. NOT too difficult, but does rely on RNG when it comes to itemization (It's a roguelike after all).
