While running back to collect your corpse holding your rosaries and silk is fun in theory it gets very annoying if you're stuck in a difficult boss/enemy gauntlet with a long and/or treacherous path between you, some of the bosses are pretty annoying, though it's just some optional ones + 1 required for true ending which is not horrible by himself but has outrageous circumstances that make it infuriating (iykyk), and some locations you are supposed to be headed to late-game are a tad poorly communicated so you have to look around extra hard or look up online which is kinda lame but oh well. The difficulty, while I enjoy it, can definitely be a turn off for people too

That's like 90% of my critiques, the rest are just nitpicks and the fact the game doesn't have a boss rush yet to enjoy the genuinelly stellar boss design in this game. I have played 90 hours of this game in two save files and currently starting a third and that's all I have to say, if I were to list everything I love about this stupid game I would be here all day I don't even know where to start so I'll just ramble away and hopefully something coherent comes out

The music is seriously good. Cogwork Dancers, Phantom, Widow, Bilewater, Tormented Trobbio and far more that I can't recall at the moment, this soundtrack is stacked as hell, all among some of my favorite songs to come out of a videogame

The art is SO PEAK genuinely, replaying through the original Hollow Knight right after Silksong makes that game look ugly in comparison and that game had breathtaking visual moments in it of itself! Something I think Silksong nailed in its visuals that the original Hollow Knight didn't was making EVERY area distinctive and standing out on its own. The original Hollow Knight had some pretty distinctive areas but a lot of them got bunched up together, that does NOT happen in Silksong at all except for maybe Choral Chambers and High Halls but that's kind of tough because they're both essentially different segments of the same place. Every area is beautiful and memorable for its own reason.

Hornet's moveset, or movesets plural because of the crest mechanic, feel great to use. Every crest feels like you have a valid reason to use, few are truly outshadowed and it's basically just left up to the player between what feels best for them, be it the long-ranged but slow Witch and Reaper crest or the short and quick Wanderer crest of the aggressive Beast crest, so on and so forth, I have swapped between main crest and stuck with it with 4 of them by now it's insane how fun this mechanic is, and that's just mentioning attacks! Hornet feels AMAZING to move, her animations just bring out the life in her movement in a way that feels so smooth to control, the dash/sprint feels great running and zipping around all over the place, the wall cling is just a wall cling, it's a given for a game like this but well implemented nonetheless, the harpoon is delightful once you get good at using it for both movement and combat, the glide is nice and the double jump goes much lower than in Hollow Knight but is easier to use for tight vertical adjustments so it's a trade-off. Rarely did I feel like I wasn't control of myself

I could make a point about how 90% of the boss are REALLY fun to fight (8% is still fun but I'm not smiling ear to ear and the last 2% are Pinstress, Savage Beastfly and Palestag), the platforming challenges that feel really fun and fair or even the exploration finding little hidden corners with items or NPCs everywhere you go or even the story but this is long enough and I'm getting bored writing for so long I wanna play more silksong instead

If you don't mind metroidvania tropes of backtracking and remembering where new abilities can be used, you're doing yourself a disservice. Seriously. Buy Hollow Knight. THAT is my playtime as of writing this and I'm not even done, I had to stop myself from playing more Hollow Knight because I didn't know how much longer I'd play before moving to Silksong
