Really enjoyed this entry into the Civ franchise. Will update as I play more. Dropping a positive review to water down the whiny ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ who hate everything that's slightly less than perfect. If you liked humankind and you liked CIV 6, you'll probably like this.

Really enjoy the improved animation. I also appreciate the effort to loop in/reference events from the first game, while still allowing this game to be its own thing. So far, finished the first 3 chapters and am still enjoying it. To date, I've only had one hard crash at the start of chapter 4. Game performs otherwise flawlessly (no rate drops, etc) on full cinematic settings. Did have to set secondary resolution to 100% in order to fix blurry graphics. Will update once complete.

Update: I've finished it with no further issues. I still recommend the game. It has enough of the charm of the original game. Overall, the first game is better (lightning in a bottle). This game is a good successor though, and I look forward to the next game. Give it a shot, and understand the team made purposeful decisions to reference the first game. It seems this was done to not have this story needlessly restricted by the previous previous game's framing. Strong recommend - keep an open mind.

Settings don't seem to matter. Setting the game to the easiest setting doesn't actually seem to impact gameplay. There are infinite enemies that do more damage than your units and take more damage than your units. If you're looking for a more casual Warhammer strategy experience, this is not the game for you. They offer a detailed difficulty selection process, but the options are only to increase the difficulty in particular areas rather than lower it or even it out. I've run two campaigns so far, and by the end of the first 2-3 turns, the AI has 2100 points for their army, where I'm not able to get more than 1700 points (spend 1AP to conquer a territory, and spend 1 AP to to refill my army). AI seems to be able to conquer two territories to increase their maximum army size and refill their army in a single turn (3 APs worth of action).

Surprisingly intricate. This is a very good application of RPG maker. The team who made this clearly put a lot of work into making this. While some of the dialogue is preposterous, there's some goodness to be had here.

One thing that would have been nice - a storage system for keeping crafting talismans separate from selling talismans.

Initial impression is quite good. I've completed the tutorial and the first few missions. I believe if you liked the original Homeworld series, you will most likely enjoy this.

Pros:
Commands are very customizable, so you can have the new "modern" controls, the original HW2 style controls, or a personally chosen hybrid of the two. I chose the last option so I could take the qualify of life improvements and new camera controls, but keep the movement controls I was used to from the original.

The game features multiple difficulty ratings so folks who struggle with this kind of game have access to a story mode and an easy mode.

Looks great and sounds great. Music, graphics, and radio chatter immediately let you know that you're playing a Homeworld game.

Cons:
It looks like the story mode may be a little short, based on how far I've gotten in just over 3 hours of playtime.

Died of a heart attack twice, forcing me to repeat the intro section. This was pointless. Do not recommend.

First heart attack caused by removing necktie from fan. Second heart attack caused by turning in light switch..,

I feel like the devs spent a lot of time on writing and almost zero on character design/gameplay. Wonder how many times I have to restart to get to the rest of the story, or when I’ll die randomly for no reason...

Light switch death - most ludicrous death I’ve seen in a video game yet.

Kind of blah.

The tutorial sends you off to find a second animal of your species, but apparently it's random. I found no second animal on any island, after half an hour of traveling through five different islands, and my animal eventually died of old age after 20(!!!!!) days. So short lived.

The game gave me an option to restart keeping my animals and genes, which I did.
I was brought back to the third island I discovered, and now had two animals and the same mission to find a second animal. I could not make either of my animals find the other animal, as both were apparently members of my tribe.

However, it seems both of my animals were male, and could not breed. Both animals died after failing to find a third animal within the exceptionally short time given.

I know people are successful at this game, and many like it, but if it's so random that you can't complete the tutorial 100% of the time in a single pass, it needs to be redone.

So far, it's a 20 turn game where you wander around the grass picking up berries and fighting moles until your animal dies. It's easily one of the least interesting, least playable games I've tried on Steam.

Recommendation to the devs: have the tutorial algorithm place an opposite gender animal on the appropriate island 100% of the time so new players can learn the mechanics and learn the skills required to defeat the exceptionally random island resource/animal generation system.

Refunding. Probably won't consider buying this again.

This is probably one of Daedalic's weakest games. I've never been able to make it longer than about 5 minutes which means, based on my playtime of .3 hours, I've attempted to play it 3-4 times.

The good bits:
1) Nice art style
2) Functional interface and overall gameplay scheme

Maybe it gets better, but the problems are:
1) It seems to me to be awfully self-righteous and/or preachy
2) The voice acting is really bad (at least in English).
3) Hasn't managed to keep me interested long enough to rate the rest of the game - due to the deadly mixture of (1) and (2).

If you can play this in German, you should play it in German. Although I didn't personally try this (I will on my next and final attempt). I have to believe the German voice acting would be better than the stilted English presentation. Frankly, I don't understand why it's so bad. Daedalic's other titles (Deponia in particular) have really nice, lively voice acting and a fun/silly tone.

Unless you're out for a good scolding about environmental destruction in which you may (or not) actively participate, and you enjoy listening to first day theater students read something dry about said enviornmental destruction, this isn't something I can recommend.

Thank you for making this. It's amazing. I'll update my review after I get more time with it. It sucks you right in, though. It's got a hand-crafted feel to it, and the madness is top notch.

Blood bowl 1....steaming pile of horse crap, not to put too find a point on it. They have such a bad/biased RNG system that it has spawned numerous independent studies to debunk how corrupt the RNG for Bloodbowl 1 seems to be.

I've played very little BB1, because of the RNG corruption which many loyal players insist is a figment of my imagination, I was unable to play more than a few hours.

I got tired of 83% success shots for me failing more often than not. I was irritated by "re" rolls yielding the exact same pre-determined result. I was frustrated with the opponents 17% success change suceeding more often than not. I didn't care to play a halfling team put up against a vastly superior team, with no easy way to win, and no way to cheat, so I quit.

And I put of BB2 for a very long time, expecting it would consist of the same irritating, random ♥♥♥♥. What I foudn was a significantly improved game. BB2 actually plays like blood bowl on the tabletop is supposed to. There's chance but it's reasonable chance. You'll succeed on 83% rolls rouhgly 83% of the time (instead of maybe 10% of the time or 90% of the time, depending no how the game scewed the rolls for you that day).

BB1 stuff aside,

Bloodbowl 2 is a nice game that captures the spirit of the boardgame. The DLC policy is a bit punitiive, but overall BB2 is a good buy. I would recommend still picking it up on a sale, but this game is signifiacntly better than BB1. I have a few hours in BB1, and most of them were of me trying to get past the first mission where your opponent is halflings (the 'weakest' faction) has more money to spend on their units than you do, and so can easily trounce you, especially when exploting the RNG inconsistencies.

You're probably not going to play this for thousands of hours, but if you want a light american football sim in a warhammer skin that plays the way it should, BB2 is the game for you.
