A real quality casual game, simple, tactical and with an element of luck that is intensely addictive

It's with a heavy heart that I write this review.

The game just isn't fun.

The choice to divide the game into ages makes it feel more like you're playing 3 separate short games rather than one epic one. The requirement to choose a new civ with every age only accentuates that divided feeling, and worse than that, because you are forced to end when the bar fills to 100%, you feel like works have been left unfinished.

The choice to build XP with leaders is a nice change, it would have added depth to civ 6 and would have encouraged you to try out different civs, other than your favourites, to get new unlocks - it's just such a pity that the rest of the game is so lackluster.

The UI is extremely badly designed for a civ game, the tech tree is the most obvious example since it is almost impossible to tell what techs are prerequisites of others, and since I KNOW that this was brought up by play testers prior to release, it feels like they don't care about their players and are just trying to cash in - especially since it would have taken very little dev time to fix.
selecting units that are stacked and behind city banners is a chore and it's very difficult to tell what is built where when selecting a new district to build (especially important since some buildings form unique districts)

I really wanted to like this game, but I don't see any reason to buy this - if I could get a refund, I would.

Do yourself a favour and buy Civ 6.

This is the best first person factory game on the market.

Firstly, the criticism: It is a steep initial learning curve and pretty daunting to beginners with so many things not covered by tutorials at present.

Once you get into a rythm, the game soaks up time like nothing else as you build, plan and reorganise to make your production more and more efficient. The multiplayer support is great and it's fun fighting giant hogs with 3 of your friends.

Be warned in advance though, if you're arachnaphobic, don't forget to turn off spiders because oh boy, these are the scariest you will encounter in ANY game!

This game is a masterpiece.

If you have even the slightest interest in how computers work, you want to buy this game.

It teaches by doing, it makes solving the problems that computers face interesting end enjoyable.

Thanks to this game I understand how stacks work, how they can overflow, what that means for a computer and so many other intricacies of how and why things are the way they are.

About the only criticism I can give it is that some of the later levels (programming) could use a more abstract description of the way to solve the problem.

By far and away the best social VR experience out there.

Now hold on, I'm well aware that there are technically superior systems offering better graphics, more customisation and other features, but this wins out over all of them for both ease of use, depth of content and ease of social interaction - which is the core purpose of this game.

I want to be able to put my headset on and be hanging out with my friends in a matter of seconds without the need for complicated tutorials or set up.
I want to be able to find worlds and avatars easily without needing to figure things out.
I want to have the freedom to customise my avatar to something I am happy with.

VRChat delivers on all those points, for free.

This is a good game, there are still buggy elements and aspects feel incomplete, but it doesn't ruin the overall flow of the game. The progression is good and you can either take your time and make things look pretty or min-max your way to the next goal.
It's clearly inspired by subnautica and frankly does a very good job of giving you that style of gameplay but with a big twist and new challenges.

This game is much more focused on the building and crafting than exploration, but there are still things to find and see.

Overall a fun experience, though I will say that the last steam achievement is absolutely awful to complete

I have 100% completed this game in 8 hours - it's a good game for the price, but don't expect it to last you more than a weekend.

While I thought I would like this game, it just isn't fun.

I think the problems are that the interactions between the components seem heavily based off factorio, a 2d game and thus the 3d just seems to be an unnecessary irritation since you're struggling with holes and hills. The need for foundation adds an extra grindy step to an even slower game and there really is no reward to it, it looks ugly, the sound design is grating and the 'robot buddy' is functionally useless.

Sadly I think this game needs to be a hard pass, there are far better games out there for factory builders, Satisfactory, Dyson Sphere Program or the granddaddy of them all, Factorio are all better choices.

Autosaves. It's incredible that one tiny detail that should be 100% standardised these days can ruin an otherwise amazing game.

You have very few options of when to autosave and crucially any exit or ship changes saves over the top of your autosave, so if you forget to process all the stuff in your truck and click to the next ship, you can't reload because it saves over the top of the autosave.

Games have been doing autosaves for well over a decade, the fact that this game struggles to implement something so simple, and that it can ruin hours of gameplay is tragic.

I will update this review if this is ever fixed.

Huge amount of fun for a very fair price.

TIP- You need friends for this to be an enjoyable game.
