I've tried to learn Go a few times and... it is hard. This game incorporates a lot of the traditional and AI based learning tools found elsewhere, but in a very accessible manner. The campaign isn't amazing by itself, but encourages you to try traditional go puzzles and review previous games (with ai assistance) to improve your play. AI analysis can be gained in battles by spending resources, which also helps newbies figure out strategy.

These kinds of tools are available in more "serious" computer go apps, but those are aimed more at people who already play at a reasonable level, so likely more confusing than helpful to a beginner. The way "Conquest" integrates them in a way that encourages rather than daunts new players is very clever. Ally battles, where you and a smart AI take turns playing pieces against an enemy AI is also a great learning tool.

I haven't tried the online system, but you can connect to public Go servers if/when you want to play humans. It appears to have most of what you want in an online client, including traditional boards if you don't like the custom themes.

For experienced go players this game might be too 'cute'. While the campaign is very well designed for learning players it probably doesn't have the depth to excite serious go players long term, as they're probably less interested in game review and life/death problems. Even so, if you're going to play computer go it's nice to have a metagame to structure long term play. AI dynamically changes difficulty as you progress, and the inclusion of "casual", mixed, GNU and KataGo AI ensures it will probably match you at any level from novice to expert.

For new go players, highly recommended.
