Mostly solid co-op shooter. Great sense of humour and general writing quality and full of hilarious ways to kill yourself and your teammates. The highest difficulty is wayyyyy too easy. Basically nobody uses difficulties 2 through 9, there's people farming credits on level 1 and people who want literally any challenge whatsoever breezing through level 10 with minimal effort.

Decent generic survival-crafting game with an in depth building system. Has a big emphasis on incentivizing construction; it punishes you for being outside all the time with harsh weather that debuffs and hurts you, but rewards spending at least some time indoors setting up a variety of systems and crafting customizable gear.

First spawn on Sakhal. Me and my buddy spawned one town away from each other, he found a boat and I found a fishing rod, he came and met me where I was catching steelhead trout, and we sailed away into the sunset, found a tiny island offshore, lit a fire in an abandoned cabin, and ate caviar and baked fish fillets together. 10/10 great camping simulator

... Wait, this game has zombies??

I fired 15 rounds of my 18 round lever action magazine into the wooden wall of a barn while my friends watched on, bemused. Bang! Bang! Bang! The bullets whizzed through the barn, connecting with nothing more than stacks of hay. I kept strafing and kept firing, methodically raking the whole interior of the barn with low velocity rounds, watching my ammo reserve wither away, thinking about their eyebrows raising behind my back... Until on the 16th round, the Bang! was followed by a Yelp! and a THUD of a body hitting the floor.

Gottem.

Some of the best and most precise melee combat mechanics I've ever seen. The game has some serious compromises in terms of macro gameflow, loot economy and matchmaking, but it's worth trying just for the swordfighting.

Development seems to be going in a positive direction overall, looking forward to seeing where the game goes in a few more months.

Original game was a timeless masterpiece.

This Steam port is a bit average and has some bugs and stability issues, but the core functionality of joining your friends for private multiplayer games works so it's still worth it.

This is what co-op horror is meant to be.
It's confusing. It's dark. It's scary. It's RIDICULOUSLY difficult. It's meticulously crafted and profoundly disturbing. It's perfect.

Still the best Battle Royale game.
Still the worst Titanfall game.

I died, had nothing to do for 10 minutes, got up to make some tea, and realized I was having more fun watching the kettle boil than playing this game.

Unsurpassed freedom, both in terms of navigating and interacting with the world, and also in interacting with other players. Awe-inspiring scale and detail, almost certainly the largest finite map relative to the player of any game ever made. Beautiful graphics. Deep and varied gameplay. Healthy short and long term progression. Crazy customization. The control scheme is convoluted, but in such a way that nails the feeling of punching in controls to the computer like you're flying a spaceship.

The game is not for everyone and comes with some significant limitations. Flying a ship co-operatively with your buddies is difficult to set up and mostly unrewarding, for example. There's no functional interior spaces in your ship that you can walk around on foot, you're either outside it or you're in the pilot seat. Still, this is an incredible experience in a largely-credible sci fi universe. Frontier has gone to great lengths to make this one of the most immersive and plausible games to feature FTL travel.

I give it an unreserved recommendation to anyone who loves space, astronomy and astrophysics one-tenth as much as I do. This game has gravitational f***ing lensing, for crying out loud! It's like astronomy porn. If you don't love space, frankly I don't know why you're reading this.
