Nothing is better than Chrono Ark, it has not only one of the best OSTs in video game history, its gameplay and dialogue speaks lengths like no others. When Azar said, "And every morning, I start the day with a brand new Chrono Ark," I started crying all over the place. How did one create such a peak form of video gaming?

This game is magical in a nihilistic sort of way. I'm sure you must have already read what Disco Elysium is, so I'll spare you on the details. Behind the guise of a traditional (or at least, as traditional you can get with digital medium) tabletop RPG, is a lengthy but well-written detective story. I don't want to say it's a "whodunnit" because it's so much more than that. Journey, meet Destination.

The world is set in a bleak, post-revolution world filled with poverty, psychological trauma, and all kinds of tragedy. Don't think it's just some dark, 2edgy4u setting - beneath the exterior of a systematically depressed world is a tinge of optimism. People lash out, people cope, and people adjust: That's what makes these characters feel more human. Nobody is always good or always bad, and Disco Elysium gives you the opportunity to decide that for yourself. That's probably why I like this game so much. It treats the audience maturely, letting the player - and not the game - decide for themselves what is right and wrong.

On the writing itself: It's good. It's really good. You can tell that the people who wrote Disco Elysium were planning for a novella, or maybe a novel. It has a lot of self-deprecating humor mixed in with a bit of anarchy and lunacy in a god-forsaken world that fits the setting - and it's damn good, too. The emotions/voices (also known as your "skills" game-wise e.g. Rhetoric, Logic) in your head add a wonderful flavor in the written text. Did I mention they talk to you personally, help you with your skill checks by commenting on things, and can argue with each other in your head?

Anyway, I'm going to keep this brief and say that Disco Elysium is fantastic.

If you want wit, self-deprecation, and an emotional rollercoaster of a game, this is your stop.

It was a good game while it lasted. Am I angry that they added skins that affect gameplay? Well, partially. Am I mad because they promised not to add microtransactions and then immediately after implemented said things? Yes. I am currently melting into a fiery rage of oblivion as I type this out. Promises should be kept. And if you're going to break a promise, at least issue a sincere apology.
