a worthy successor to the first, it's brilliant. fully immersed in the zone and having lots of fun.

boring gameplay loop with bad replayability, no one wants to go from a to b to c to d to e every time they start a game to get basic tools, and once you've filled your inventory you can no longer loot anything, there's no scarcity of resources and the exploration and story is linear so what's the point. its basically just defend your log cabin from cannibals for 10 hours until you get bored and i feel there's lots of wasted potential because the actual forest and game engine and half baked dynamic ai ideas are nice.

i love the original but this is trash. the combat is just terrible, with bad mission design and the worst checkpoint/auto-saving system ever. the only thing definitive about this reskin of middling mafia 3 is that it's the most frustrating game i've ever played. gta 5 has better animations/shooting/melee combat etc and that's a decade old. there's no excuse for the terrible design decisions that ruined what could have been an amazing remake of a classic. it's depressing how little thought went into most areas of this game and a shame because the city and atmosphere is great, i like the driving, but the actual gameplay is pure RNG torture on classic difficulty. you shoot a guy 3 times in the chest with your little pea shooter before running out of ammo and 0.2 seconds later he glitches onto a crate and laser-beams you from across the room absolutely unfazed by what should be mortal wounds lol. you're just going from 1 condensed set-piece to another having to kill dozens of guys like that for cheap thrills, except it's not thrilling it's very frustrating, silly and immersion breaking. fair enough if you want to just blaze through it on easy or medium but absolutely do not try and take this game seriously lol, ah well.
