It has some decent potential, but overall very lazy job by the devs. Lots of bugs with UI and weapons hiding or movement glitching. Also, the performance is below average especially when you kill a bot/player you will get a stutter not to mention the game literally eats insane amount of RAM.

Noticed all this in just below 1 hour of playing, so you could imagine what you will come across after days of playing. Bad try to revive an Unreal Tournament type of game overall, don't recommend it at it's current state.

Although I am not a fan of Battle Royales at all, I decided to give this a try since it was free and vampires are always cool.

Overall solid and fast paced gameplay with lots of verticality. The RNG element is reduced since everyone gets good guns and a chance to respawn but it's still there. If you like quite a decent amount of action it's one of the few BR's that it's not a walking simulator.

My biggest complain is that it feels very glitchy (lag or desync and ocassional stuttering or fps drops). I am still "recommending" this game because idk it's fun to play. In case they don't fix the inconsistent performance within a reasonable time frame and the various bugs that exist review will be updated and game would be dead.

Updated review: Sadly, critical issues are taking too long to get fixed so I can't recommend this anymore, the population has declined greatly by now as well.

Updated Review: Generally a decent game that even a F2P player can enjoy and have fun. It's gameplay stands out although it's centered around animation lock which I am not a fan of and the feel of progression you get from it's challenging PvE content along with many cool and distinct classes you can choose from makes it a viable choice. But although the decent starting base that it has, it feels a bit too generic, robotic and not original.
However, the biggest issue this game faces is that it is handled by AGS which is the root to most of the problems this game suffers from. They are probably one of the worst AAA gaming companies. Some examples are their terrible losing war against bots, their shockingly bad customer support, their random bans that could happen to legit players due to their malfunctioning bot-banning algorithm and their bottom tier quality wise servers that can't handle more than a handful of players in the same zone causing game stutters.

Listing the major bad and good points below:

The bad:

- Amazon Game Studios (incredibly bad customer support and game monitoring)
- Runs very bad (stuttering) especially in towns or populated areas
- Cheap Amazon servers are only somewhat better because more than 50% already quit
- Insanely high amount of bots exist in this game that destroy the economy and the immersion
- Heavily P2W game, you can literally buy urself to end game gear with $$
- Prepare to grind hard if you are a F2P player like most of us
- Extremely linear gameplay, most quests feel braindead due to the annoying G spam
- Your PvE character feels like a god, your PvP scaled character like a trashcan
- Average and relatively lame PvP gameplay with 100% stunlock mechanics
- If you enjoy gambling, you will love upgrading (honing) your gear in this game
- Annoying flashing and staggering of everything you hit (it's tiring for your eyes)
- It feels generic and streamlined due to game mechanics promoting that type of gameplay
- It's probably the most antisocial MMOARPG I've tried (lone wolves might like this aspect)
- Nothing interesting regarding it's lore - it doesn't feel epic

The good:

- Generally very good gameplay (less responsive than Diablo/PoE due to animation lock)
- Very cool and distinct classes with enough customization (gender locked though)
- Distinct environments and biomes but sadly they ain't that memorable cuz they are too many
- Relatively challenging PvE but it's the only meaningful thing that will occupy you
- Possible to play most of the content solo (except the Abyssal dungeons)
- If you enjoy side activities like gathering, sailing with your ship, doing side quests, collecting 1200+ seeds etc. or leveling alts you might enjoy urself a bit more in this game
- Graphics are generally pretty although the engine is UE3, but sometimes jagged edges are noticeable in the blurry background
- AYAYA

TLDR: The game has it's advantages and disadvantages and overall it's an enjoyable game, but imo it has nothing ground breaking to offer. I would recommend it if AGS wasn't such an incompetent company and the game didn't run so poorly.

Finally after months if not years of waiting you can disable "Aim Magnetism" for mouse and keyboard. Still thumbs down from me for the simple reason of incompetent game development.

I am personally a DD wheel user (SC2 Pro), the game is fun to drive with it. The physics and FFB are pretty good for an arcade title. I would prefer a stronger road sensation though, but we can't judge this as a sim anyway.
As to what to avoid if you wan't to have a nice driving experience and save some time:

1. Don't play online if you wan't to avoid stuttering, probably netcode is super bad - let's hope for a fix but I personally don't care much about it.
2. If you have a DD wheel (or any wheel), with pedals, shifter etc. that can't make them work at all in game, download Emuwheel and vJoy and you will be able to use them.
3. As for the force feedback, I recommend maxing out road feel because it's not very noticeable even with strong wheelbases and reducing off-road feel because it's a bit too strong.
4. Regarding the texture popping your only solution to make it better is to increase world detail in the graphics settings.
5. Avoid bots at very high difficulties for obvious reasons.

Wanted to update my review, as it was too small and I have now beaten the hardest content the game has to offer. So, here it is:

Doom Eternal is an excellent horde style FPS with great combat mechanics, it's probably one of the best in its area of expertise, if literally not the best. You will feel like a god once you master the combat loop the game offers you.

When choosing the appropriate difficulty for you it can get very challenging and the satisfaction you get once you beat a hard level makes it feel really unique. Prepare to smash your head if you touch Ultra Nightmare and try to do the hardest challenges.

Mick Gordon nailed it with the soundtrack, if I could describe it with one word, badass. You basically get a free music album with the game, or maybe you pay the music album and get a free game as well :p

Great visuals and gore. Gunplay is impactful and feels good with each gun being unique. The gameplay is fast, you can jump, double jump, dash, climb monkey bars, do Balista jumps, bunny hop etc. One thing that is missing is not being able to accelerate through strafing or bunny hoping like in Quake.

There is some short of multiplayer as well (Doomguy vs 2 Demons) which I am not really a fan though, I would prefer classic Deathmatch or Team Deathmatch modes etc. without any second thought but it is what it is.

The game runs amazingly well without any problems what so ever and you feel the joy of smoothness of the id engine while playing. Some, rare bugs can occur that are so funny I consider them a plus lol. The game has some decent modding community as well but it's sadly outside of steam workshop.

The Doom series is also greatly expanding its lore as a game franchise with Doom Eternal, making it broader and more epic in my opinion and it closes the story arc nicely (for now) in the last expansion after defeating basically the God of Hell.

If I had to forcefully think myself of some disadvantages I would consider the multiplayer a letdown compared to Doom 2016, sometimes the super strong (and spammy) pickup visuals when killing enemies can tire your eyes after long hours of playing.
Finally, as a personal note I would prefer if the game was less weapon switching heavy and more centered around aiming and purity of gun gameplay like Quake, also I would love it if the movement was expanded (strafe jumping, bunny hopping with acceleration etc.)

TLDR: Recommend it 100%, it's basically Doom 2016 on steroids. Sick gameplay with an awesome soundtrack, go buy it.

Probably one of the best FPS games of all time, not for the faint-hearted though.

Although it's pretty basic at the moment, it's a very good co-op shooter (3 player party) and probably better than the over hyped upcoming ones (yes like B4B). The alien universe seems perfect for these kind of games.

-Atmosphere and lore (4/5)
Not really much to complain here for, developers seem to be fans of the franchise and the movies, they have also added some nice touches like the characteristic scene with the knife and hand play from the movie. Maybe my only complain is that it doesn't feel epic.

-Graphics and performance (4/5)
The graphics and optimization is pretty good (I didn't notice any stuttering) although fps can dip a bit and gpu temperatures rise when loads of aliens attack especially in the bigger zones.

-Customization and complexity (4/5)
Character and game depth seem just enough and I wouldn't mind staying as it is, it is not an ARPG after all. There are around 30+ guns and lots of attachments in the game, card mutators exist to make missions more rewarding or challenging, there is also a basic talent tree with perks you can tweak and there are distinct classes with different guns. abilities and passives.

-Gameplay and gunplay (4/5)
Guns feel and sound pretty good and satisfying but I would prefer to have a better and more fluid covering system like Gears of War which is by far the best for these type of cover shooter games. But in this game it is rarely used except when you fight androids with guns so it is not such a big problem, if it was used more often I would rate it lower.

-AI behaviour and enemies (3/5)
Aliens feel generally as they should but sometimes they just sit afk in some corners and can be predictable. The two bots you can play with aren't useful beyond standard difficulty, except if you wanna challenge yourself. Also another thing that is missing in this game is epic boss battles and possible random events except just aliens coming out from a hole.

-Replayability and endgame (3/5)
The game can be replayed as many times as you want and make it really challenging, but the problem is that there isn't enough variety in maps (12 missions and 1 horde map) or a really serious end goal you gotta strive for other than finishing it in harder difficulties and grinding for guns or leveling classes. This could be further improved by adding more mission maps with different objectives and more interactive horde maps that don't just have one place to defend yourself from.

-Settings (3/5)
Setting customization aren't the worst or the best I have seen. What bothers me the most is the absence of a FoV slider (the camera feels too close for a 3rd person shooter) and more accurate sensitivity values or being able to bind cover with roll etc.

So as a conclusion, for a small studio and a limited budget they did a nice job and can now build upon a good base that they have. Worth a buy for sure but don't expect something mind blowing. I hope they can improve it further with patches and dlcs because the potential is not to be underestimated, it can easily get an overall rating above 4+/5 in the future.

Having a Simucube 2 Pro game feels very buggy (I had no problem with my shifter, pedals, handbrake). The moment you bind the steering to left or right with Simucube and you resume to playing the game's fps is reduced by half. It doesn't matter if you choose a wheel, controller or keyboard preset. However if you map your steering inputs to any other device or button fps is fine.

It is a very frustrating bug from your end and you have to patch it, maybe it happens in other wheelbases also, not sure. It is a byproduct of the terrible controller mapping you have in game where when you bind the same input to 2 different presets then the game runs terribly.

So, from me it is a negative review, I will update the review if it's fixed but I doubt they will even bother considering the buggy UI, controlls etc.

If you hate BR shooters because of rng and you dislike games with fast time to kill and slow movement, then this is the right game for you.

It basically is a very fun shooter that taps into the AFPS genre with a lot of similarities to Halo, plus it's free.

You should give it a try.
