This is an underrated, underappreciated title, and I hope that it catches on and gets more attention from the flight sim community. If you don't own it, you're missing out.

Coming from a background of real life military aviation, I have nothing but praise for Combat Air Patrol 2. It truly captures the feeling of flight. I also own DCS World with the Harrier module, but I still fly this title and would not miss it. While it's still in Early Access, what we have so far is first rate. As development continues, this is going to become a classic of the flight sim genre.

Aside from the tremendous feeling of flight, the maps are varied and beautiful and everything is well modeled. My machine runs this title at outrageously high frame rates through an Oculus Rift CV1, with all settings at maximum. The image through the Oculus Rift is one of the clearest that I've seen in any title. You feel like you're really in the cockpit.

Development for this title has been a little slow, but it has come steadily, Progress marches on, and it just keeps getting better each time that there's an update.

I would no more pass up this title than I would DCS World or IL-2 Great Battles. This is an underrated gem for an excellent price and I highly recommend it. If you're a flight simmer and you buy this title, you won't be sorry. If you don't have it, you're depriving yourself of a very good flight sim. One sunset run through the Mach Loop or across the Arizona desert and you'll know what I mean. And if you have VR, you're going to love it!
