It's alright, I get the impression that it was kind of like a prototype for The Fancy Pants Adventures on Xbox 360.

Though, that game came out way before this, so I don't really know what's going on there.

It's kind of annoying that we have this game on Steam but not that one, even after all this time, that game is just stuck on Xbox.

Overall, if you like the games of this franchise you might like this. There isn't really anything notable about the game and It's very un-polished; still, it's simple fun. The mechanics are there; To push them to the limits, could be nice to speedrun, not that I did.

Some of the later levels are kind of interesting in aesthetic; it makes me think of obsession. I find it fun to imagine a troubled development, as being behind that. It's fun to imagine, but that's all you can really do; There is a lot of good work but most things seem unfinished.

I muted the music and put on my own stuff while playing; I'd recommend you to do the same. The game is also is a little glitchy, I worry that it might not work on some people's computers, but I don't see any complaints about that.

If you aren't familiar with this franchise then I wouldn't recommend, the best place to start would be the Xbox 360 game, but yeah it's not on Steam.

Other than exploring the weird world, I didn't find it fun. That was enough for those first moments, but it wasn't able to sustain that intrigue for long.

I didn't find any of the game's mechanical elements to be satisfying. It wouldn't take me long to fully explore each level and once I did, pacing around in them afterwards searching for objectives got pretty annoying.

The annoyances with moving around would end up distracting from the atmosphere, which was what I enjoyed about the game.

I found the game's messaging frustrating. I felt it didn't provide grounds for me to think about any of its topics myself, for the most part it felt like it'd just tell me things and I could either accept it as true or not. I suppose I wasn't getting it, coming at it from the wrong angle.

Overall, I didn't like it, but there is a lot of good in there. Lots of weird visuals, and a game that clearly has an identity; It's nice. The strangeness of it all made me idealise a version that forgoes the story completely, throwing the player into its weird abyss, leaving them aimless.

I appreciate games like this, but I would only recommend this to very like minded individuals. If you wanna just find weird games made by individuals then why not I guess, just keep in mind that you got yourself into this.

It's not professionally made, which is fine, but I also think that the idea behind it isn't very good. The game pushes colours as the core mechanic, but I think colours alone aren't enough to carry a game, they need to supplement something greater. Most of the puzzles just revolve around mixing and matching colours which I found boring.

And on the topic of it being not professionally made, the biggest issue in that sphere (although there are many) is that there's no audio which makes it feel fairly un-finished.

They're making a re-master/sequel called "Colortone Remixed" and that sours me on this game. Remixed should just be an update and/or dlc to this; maybe they don't know how to use Steamworks properly or something; or is it that they want to preserve this version of the game? But then they may aswell just make it a sequel, rather than a remaster/sequel. Point is, is that it makes the people who bought the original feel cheated.

My main issue remains with colours as the core mechanic. I don't think there's a lot of potential there, maybe that fact works well in a beginner project though. I did find it somewhat enjoyable; Relaxed and simple, not very engaging though.

Not a bad game; I don't find it to be good either.

It's the same thing as Hollow Knight but it has some more Dark Souls elements. Notably, you have equip-able weapons and the narrative feels close to Dark Souls too. I find the narrative to be the primary thing setting it apart; Everyone are rock-people and your player character has a black-hole for a head.

I didn't find the gameplay very engaging. I've played Dark Souls 1 and 3, but not Hollow Knight. I don't see it as bad, it's fairly similar; Doesn't feel unique though. It wouldn't have to be unique, and it doesn't, but I don't find the core of it to be as solid as what I've played. Unlike Dark Souls, it couldn't put me into a flow state. Bosses felt tedious, often like I had already beaten them, but where I just had to get my gameplay consistent enough to be able to grind their entire health bar down.

On a sidenote, I think a reason for that, is the fact they have a parry in the game. Hollow knight doesn't have this, and I think that's for a reason; In a 2D game it seems very powerful. The game seems to struggle with this fact as well, some attacks can’t be parried, and as you play through it, the trend is for bosses to have more and more moves that can’t be parried. It ends up being kind-of like Mario, where the parry-able moves are like the boss allowing you to deal damage to it.

It's alright gameplay but I didn't find it outstanding. The narrative is interesting, but I think it could've used more time. To compare it Dark Souls, if it were more fleshed out, I don't think I would find myself doing this; With what it was, I could imagine the difference being as simple as swapping out ghouls for rock people. I think it suffers in the details; The world as an idea is interesting, but it didn't feel very real when playing. That and dialogue. It wasn't detailed enough to be worth keenly observing nor did it build an atmosphere effective enough to pull me in.

It is not a bad game, if you want more Hollowknight or Darksouls, you will probably find some fun in this.

Controlling the blob feels like swinging around a bowling ball.

The camera is controlled with Q and E (mouse is an option too but it's so broken that it's unusable). It makes it feel like you're steering the blob, as if it's a vehicle. In the same sense the lack of air control, slow turn rate, and mediocre acceleration, make them feel really heavy; They're like a tank.

it's not typical for a platformer to control like this but it's not bad, the levels are built around these limitations. Now, that's not to say de Blob has great movement; it's too simple for my tastes, there's only wall jumping and a lame lock-on move. Although, the sheer power of the lock-on move does contribute to the tank feeling; You can wipe out goons easily, making the blob feel like a juggernaut. I enjoyed it for this, what I found to be unique, movement feeling; I find that inspiring.

The game itself is alright. Most of the time you don't have to control the camera, its movement is automated. There is some unique arcadey fun, seemingly well thought out. However, there's a lot of junk in the way too, getting to experience those truly fun moments can be tedious; I don't enjoy it for that, although if you're interested, it does offer a high skill ceiling. Most of the game design does feel dated but it's never frustrating or annoying. A good game. The Inkies are pretty cool. Truthfully, the most interesting part of this game for me was the character controller.

It's not something I'd normally play, but as a gaming relic, it can be fun to think about.

Short and sweet. Very polished. The web slinging works great. The art is good. Simple, cute, and cutting edge. My only problem with the game, is that it never pushed its mechanics far.

I didn't find any of it difficult. I wasn't puzzled by the game's puzzles; The solutions were immediately obvious, but sometimes taking a while to execute. I never felt challenged by the movement either, traversing around was always simple and painless. You can go to create your own fun, using the games mechanics, and the game does provide some additional challenge, but I was left wanting more in that regard; Movement in particular, I would've liked something difficult.

The web-slinging is unique, that is why I wanted to play this game. However, I didn't find using it to be fun. Sometimes there are ideas in the level design that I found conceptually interesting, like with the ending's balloon. Cool ideas, that were boring to execute in my play-through.

Within the context of a platformer, I found that the web slinging felt almost like a sandbox mechanic; Very powerful, trivialising most things in the game. I think an interesting route could've been to create something less conventional; If the game were not a platforming adventure, then the traversal and physics manipulation affordance of the web-slinging, wouldn't be so critical to the balance.

Imagine you had reason to construct a web and play statically within an area; More of a survival game. It wouldn't have to be super realistic, it could still be story driven, but the story could revolve around this spider's struggle to survive in the wild.

What the game is, I don't mind; an adventure is always fun. It didn't leave much of an impact on me though, engaging but not memorable.

It's a fun concept, but the game lacks polish and variety. It feels more like a prototype than an actual released game. Once you get the gist of the game there isn't much else to it. It can keep you through the combat and random elements, but the maps and builds can get boring.

It can also be frustrating from time to time, due to the random upgrades you'll sometimes get your build completely countered by one upgrade. On top of that certain builds are just straight up annoying to play against.

It doesn't seem like they're updating it, so the online might die off.

What's there is fun enough for the price, and there's not much like it; I can recommend.

A story about sad broken people, making more people sad and broken. A cycle of pain.

The game's story is closely tied to the gameplay, they are less separate from one another than in other RPGs. Party members will die, and simply be dead; It usually won't even be a story moment, it'll just be that you fought something really mean; It can be quite fun in a way. For those story moments where you do get to choose, the game still intertwines the choice with the gameplay; In a way it's kind of a typical thing, where to get the good ending you have to essentially play on hard mode, because you're making those choices. It isn't exactly like that (the game doesn't really have multiple endings) but you could compare it to that. The fact there aren't really multiple endings, and yet I still found myself still caring about those choices, goes to show that the game's narrative is effective.

You might expect it to be very funny, it's one of those games; Yes it is, but it's also very depressing, more depressing than you might be inclined to know. Don't go in, simply expecting to have a fun and funny time.

The DLC is okay; It's a bit too hard and there isn't much going on. It can be tough, for me the trick was to gather as much XP as possible; I did that by utilising revives (dead party members don't get XP). For me, the main draw was to just wrap up the base game's loose ends; If the base game engages you, then you'll probably find yourself playing the DLC. It's less about the game's world and more about the game's story.

Overall, it's a unique and interesting game, I'd recommend it to anyone, but with a warning.

The game is interesting and polished, a fully realised experience. I can't find much like and it can be fun. I like the battles and the fleet designing you can do. However, it's made to waste your time, and there's not really an end to it. If you're fine with games like that then I can recommend.

To point out some issues, there has been a steady stream of content added to the game, taking the form of new ships and events, to extend the late game. This has made it difficult for new players to come close to the power level of veteran players. They tried to remedy this, by adding a campaign which essentially just gives you free ships, up to a certain point. The problem here is that it's completely unearned; new players will have a warped perspective of the progression and veterans will have their efforts invalidated. It's hard to say what they should do regarding that, it's a cursed problem, but it is frustrating.

Another issue, some events and their corresponding drops are just gone. It creates a bit of a void in the game, making you wonder why their corresponding factions even exist. There's no completion of those ships. They function as temporary, lump sum, stepping stones to higher tier loot. It really sucks because a lot of the old factions are pretty cool, but because the game moves on and forgets about them, they end up becoming blatant padding that you just have to work through, in order to get higher tier ones.

Overall, I really like how this game works, but it's essentially clash of clans in space, which is not for me.
