The art and sound design make up for how @#BOGEY*99&! frustrating the courses are

A solid sailing game reminiscent of Sid Meier's Pirates. Same arcadey performance but a more enjoyable exploration on the seas taking inspiration from Zelda Windwaker. Good characters, amusing dialogue, and a really rewarding ship & fleet customization system.

Scratches the Sid Meier's Pirates itch a bit better than other arcadey sailing games out right now but the lack of direction and number of bugs makes this a "optimistic-but-currently-no" recommendation.

More than once my ship has been frozen during combat, stuck under the waves with the camera switching between night and day - quest AI firing on my ship with neither of us actually taking any damage. And since saves are only possible while at port, that causes significant loss of progress.

Flight controls do feel more intuitive and responsive than the first game.

Would be a 5/5 game for me if I didn't have to fly the Comet for certain Ops missions. The binary throttle is not enjoyable.

It's still just $20, you're not doing anything with it anyway. Might as well get this game.

Can't recommend the game in its current state without better a better tutorial, rebinding controls, and bug fixes (random messages appearing in German?).

Frustrating when you can't reel the line in any more but the fish continue to swim away from you, presumably taking line with it..line that I can't reel back in? So of course the fish takes the bait away.

Same difficulty arises when fighting the fish when line is still out -- and you can't let line out faster than the fish takes it. My line release button is held, shouldn't the fish get all the line it wants?

It feels more like I'm fighting the game than fighting the fish.

Happy to review again in the future.

Thought I would give myself a couple hours of playtime before sharing a first impression, but I didn't need it. I was hooked after the tutorial and the first song. Second song complete and here's my review:

A must have for every VR headset owner. This blows audioshield out of the water by simply having accurate beat maps, I can't wait to see what else is in store.

My favorite VR game so far. The graphics are simple but respond very well to your input with a gratifying feedback loop. The standard single player campaign is the length and complexity you'd expect from the Superhot series, but the true fun comes from the bonus game modes. I'm enjoying headshot-only and dont-die.
