Honestly the first RGG game I would only recommend buying on sale instead of full price. The story has no impact on the overall Yakuza/Like a Dragon world and the gameplay, while fun, is the most filler it's ever been.

Combat is extremely fun, especially with the new air combos added to compliment the juggling system, but a majority of the fights are group battles on a pirate ship or a long battle dungeon similar to the missions in Ishin. The only really fun boss fight was the one against Saejima .

Nothing happens in the story. The game starts with Majima recapping what happened during the game so you already know that there's 0 stakes to anything that is going to happen. There's zero growth or continuation for the events of LaD 7 or 8 and ultimately you spend upwards to 75 hours 100%-ing the game just to realize they made a whole game to explain why Bryce Fairfield is over 100 years old in 8 but looks 50.

TL;DR it's a fun game gameplay wise but the story is so inconsequential that it's not worth purchasing for $60, let alone $75. LaD Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name was an overall better game. This feels like the Saints Row 4 of the series.
