An elegant 4X title that blends the classic Civ formula with deeper storytelling and gameplay mechanics. Old World centers on the ancient Mediterranean and Near East from the early Bronze Age (~3300 B.C.E) to the end of classical antiquity (500 C.E.) You start as the founding ruler of your nation, managing your growing empire and securing your line of succession through a dynamic system of events and decisions. This event system adds a ton of flavor and results in emergent storytelling as you progress through each game. The core mechanics of resources management, building, and commanding your units are strongly intertwined and reward thoughtful and strategic gameplay. There are a vast array of gameplay options that can be customized, greatly adding to the replay value. Old World strikes a great balance between Civ and Crusader Kings while maintaining a unique identity of its own.

A shining gem in a sea of mostly dull indie games. Hades offers up an insanely polished arcade-style roguelike draped in a charming role-playing experience filled with memorable locales and characters. Decidedly few games achieve the perfect balance of brilliant game mechanics, impressive storytelling, and near-infinite replay value that you see in this game. Hades is untouchable when it is as its best -- which it almost always is.

This mid-depth aquarium simulator strikes a great balanced between stimulating gameplay and relaxing sandbox. Megaquarium offers up a rather simple tycoon game as the foundation for its easy-on-the-eyes aesthetic and mix-and-match style of tank management. There are no sorely lacked features in the game, rather some hints at a more complex simulation experience that don't seem to be fully fleshed out. Regardless, Megaquarium is an enjoyable game from top to bottom that both casual and capable simulation fans should get many hours from.

One of the most touching and memorable games I have ever come across. Stardew Valley is an exceptional blend of familiar titles (Animal Crossing, Harvest Moon, Rune Factory, etc.) which come together to create something far greater than the sum of its parts. Featuring remarkable characters, stimulating gameplay, and a quaint, cozy vibe that I've longed for in PC gaming -- this game is an era-defining masterpiece that ranks among my all-time favorites.

A beautifully simple blend of strategy, simulation, and puzzle mechanics. You will be able to sink your teeth into the entirety of Mini Motorway's gameplay within an hour of playing, but the fun comes from learning to master the barebones system it offers. Since my first review, the dev team has added two new maps, and I'd love to see even more.

Rarely will you find a game with an engaging story, good voice acting, and a world worth exploring. The Witcher III has all of this and much more. There are mechanics and features of the game that may make exploring its strengths tiresome or difficult, but they are worth pushing through. I will always cherish the experiences this game has given me -- especially those from my first couple of playthroughs. A masterful AAA title.

The best survival/crafting game I have ever played. Terraria offers one of the most expansive, engrossing, and memorable experiences you will ever come across in PC gaming. After over a decade of massive, FREE patches and continual support, the Terraria devs have nothing left to do but sit upon the indie masterpiece they have created.
