For some reason i thought it would be fun to read a bad story, didn't realize "bad" in this case just meant "badly written."

The story started out building something interesting, but it took way too many words to say not much at all. The devs shoved in a ton of what i would call "sci-fi nonsense," filling the story with all this weird fantasy stuff about Mars and not doing anything with it. There were even some really nice space pictures, but nothing actually happens in space and nothing meaningful develops between the main characters. Eventually i was just mashing space, reading every fifth section to get a general point of the plot. I can't really complain because it's free, but I wish the devs knew what they wanted out of the story. Near the end there is a Lesbian scene (which I didn't know about until after i started playing), and i can't see a reason for it storywise other than the devs wanted to have some lesbian art.

TLDR: Use less words, and cut out the unimportant sci-fi bits you don't build on.

This is a surprisingly lively action puzzle combination that is easily one of my favorite indie game i've ever played. Only two hours long, and i spent the entire game highly entertained. WARNING: this game has a lot more puzzle than action. I see a lot of the reviews and it seems people who don't enjoy puzzle solving won't enjoy this game

The core of the game revolves around combining cubes. Different cube combinations can build towers that either attack enemies or support your attacking towers. You can also pull cubes through enemies to deal sizable damage, which is surprisingly effective when possible. Without cubes your player character has no offensive power to deal with enemies, which means you deal with the enemies almost entirely through building structures that fight for you.

I was surprised how smoothly the game played. Usually genre mixers tend to rely heavily on the first genre and include small elements from the second, but cubetractor makes an effort to blend the two and I personally found that it gave the player a lot of choice in how they can approach. You can start every level guns blazing combining as many cubes as possible and brute forcing the answer but if you slow down you can find more efficient ways to complete a level. Most levels past the first three have 2-3 ways you can complete them and often sitting at the spawn point to plan out the level can be really enjoyable. One level i remember essentially having three different puzzles inside it, but you had to complete one puzzle in order to access the blocks to solve a second puzzle. Once you solve the second puzzle, you have to tear down buildings you had used for the first section to create a tower yet to be used in the level to hit some distant hard to reach enemies to unlock the exit.

The complicated levels and variety of strategies make for a more interactive world and you don't feel like you're solving puzzles as much as you are solving problems that happen to be in the way of you and your goal. I didn't get the sense i get with most puzzle games that rather than solving puzzles because i enjoyed solving puzzles I was solving the puzzles just to finish the game. Instead Cubetractor's level design was a lot of fun.

I only have two real complaints. Firstly, I did often found myself rushing to get the action going only to completely miss a cube in the corner that would make the level significantly easier. This happenned about three times before i noticed how often the developer seemed to put important cubes in corners, as if the devs were trying to teach the player to focus on their sourroundings. It's not really the developers fault that i wasn't paying attention, but it was very frusterating to fail a level multiple times only to notice how easy the solution was. Secondly the main story is somewhat confusing. You can choose to do the extra levels to get more of the story content, but even if you don't the game treats the story as if you had done all the side missions and learned all the characters quirks. Also don't bother trying to invest in the story. The characters can be cute in that Sesame Street sort of way where each character has a personality quirk or a gimmick, but pay too much attention and you notice how flat the writing is.

Overall a very positive experience. If you're a fan of puzzle games you will definately enjoy Cubetractor

Conceptually very interesting, i won't deny they did a good job making a management game revolving around JRPG characters in a JRPG world. Traditional to JRPG: the story is going to be the most interesting part fo the game. and its absolutely adorable. Unfortunately i'm downvoting because i found the rest of the game to be lackluster.

I was constantly checking the marketplace, but it's always empty and disappointing. The dungeons were painfully boring, dunno why they tried to shove an RPG into a perfectly good management game. Especially since the management itself isn't amazing, i feel like the game had a lot of interesting ways to innovate and explore. Instead EasyGameStation innovated a bit with a bargaining system, then all the dev power was put into the long dungeons enemies and loot art.

I mentioned the writing because i do like it's silly cheesy fun, but the cutscenes can take a long time and the sillyness can get on the nerves.

I didn't come to Reccettear wanting to play the dungeon crawly RPG elements, but i can tell that's where all the effort went, and it's the most boring part of the game. Though managing the shop is interesting and complicated, i feel like it could be more refined if so much effort didn't go into making the dungeons.

Edit: Changed some words and sentences so hopefully my intent is more clear. Also woah people didn't find this helpful, but i guess that means people like the game in spite of its issues so congrats.

This is a game i would give a maybe on if i'm honest. I can see why if you're new to fighting games this one would be ideal to pick up. The characters are more diverse than "large chested women" and overall each character has unique abilities that can be taken advantage of.
Fighting games take some time to learn though, and you need to put in some practice if you want to master this game. Also since the development team has finished the game there is no "hype generator" so to speak, which can be a big deal for an active playerbase. Still there is a community here, especially on twitch.
If you're willing to put in the time, it can be pretty fun :)

PS. if you go online and get "stunlocked" or can't move/attack at all because your opponent keeps hitting you, they are resetting. Try to block at the right elevation (low block normally works) and you should stop their reset.

PC smash?
Theres some of the polish from smash that this game could never reach, but if you're looking to play with your pc buds, this is a f2p fighting game. It's got an interesting cast of characters, though several share playstyles and weapon bases. Takes more skill than you might think.
I appreciate not having it designed for controller, and being overall simpler than smash (no items :D)

Rediculously difficult, but incredibly satisfying.
It's a mix up of platforming and brawler that really keeps you on your toes. I'd love to see a speedrun of this game.

PS- If you buy this game prepare to save...often
