This feels like something that I'm going to find myself coming back to no matter how much time has passed. Looking forward to seeing how awesome itll look on the Steam Frame!

When I was recommended this game by a close friend of mine, I had heard NOTHING about it. When I looked the game up online, it had very little coverage; A couple reviews, boss compilations, speedruns.. but nothing with widespread attention.
Now that I have finished the game, I can confidently say that It deserves so much more than that.

ZEXION is not just a love letter to Metroid; It's a passion project of 15 years, and its evident. There's too much I love about this game to list in an organized fashion, but here's what made me fall in love with this game.

The art is evocative of the classic NES Metroid, but its control scheme feels like a polished blend between Fusion and Dread. The world map is fun to navigate, well designed, and each area is able to stay memorable despite the maps overall size. The world building? The entire planet is a battlefield for so many clashing groups of interest, and sometimes they will show up during some boss fights. Speaking of the boss fights; THEY'RE PEAK. Expect mid boss twists, awesome visual/mechanical design, and LOTS of phases; It's one of the major highlights of the game. The upgrades you collect are great too, both the weapons and the character upgrades. The controls will need time to get used to, but they can be rebound! (I DO recommend that you set up your controls in a way where you can keep your thumbs on both joysticks as often as possible; This game functions best as a twin stick shooter!)

If there's anything I would warn new players of, it's that this game is HARD. Fair!.. but Hard. Checkpoints are plentiful, but deaths will be common. I finished my first playthrough in about 15 hours, with 346 deaths, and 96% of the items. If hearing its difficulty is intimidating, don't worry! This game has accessibility options such as damage reduction (1/2 damage.. 1/10 damage.. NO Damage), slowdown, ammo access, map unlocks, debuff immunity, and Save States! The only difference it makes is it'll say which assists you used on your end game stat report, so you can still unlock post game content. What is the post game content? A BUILT IN RANDOMIZER. It's awesome. Please get this game, I'm sure Silksong will be everyones focus when it comes out soon, but when it's all said and done, I believe this game should be talked about right next to Silksong.
