As a person who has played through almost every game in the series, this game is clearly a different beast. While the argument can be made that GoW was "AAA-ified" in this reboot, I think this is still a good extension to the story of Kratos and I am very exited to see what this IP holds in the future.

Gameplay wise, combat feels very nice and you will get used to the axe, for what it's worth. It isn't extremely difficult, except for the Valkyrie boss fights, which I actually bought the resurrection stones for. This is a very fun game to explore around and go for 100% completion, but sometimes the way that you move around the environment, especially climbing, can be a pain, and make travel feel a little slower than I had hoped.

Overall, I recommend this game to any God of War fan, or those looking to get into the series. It definitely helps story-wise to play through the three main installments in the series to understand who Kratos is and how he got here, but it isn't necessary to enjoy a romp around in the lands of Norse legend.
